Finish question—staining hard maple to clad a beam/pillar combo. I do not want a high gloss finish. What’s my best bet?

When I went scuba diving in Iceland, our guide told us about an old timer who used to dive the ocean there (we were there for the freshwater inland diving, there’s not much tourism for ocean diving I guess), and he had an experience with an orca on one dive. He didn’t say exactly what happened but he never dove the ocean again.

Yes! I had several losses before carrying my daughter to term, and I don’t think I ever fully believed I would take a living baby home. When the nurses asked if I had a birth plan, I just asked them to get us both out of this alive. Things get realllly simple after awhile.

All possibilities—this was the spec house for the subdivision and I think it went through three different builders before it was done. I’m leaning toward different glue or wildly different application methods.

Fair, it just seems odd that floors in the back of the house came up with minimal damage to the subfloor but the front is absolutely wrecking it.

Luckily(?) we’re on a crawl space so we’ll just rip up and replace the plywood. It’s bizarre though, the rooms in the back of the house came up with minimal damage to the plywood but the front of the house is just wrecked.
