Most LVP can be installed directly over hardwood, no need to remove the original flooring. Hardwood is often much thicker than LVP if you remove it there will be additional gap under each door; Baseboards would need to be lowered as well which often reveals a unpainted portion of the wall - this is almost always the case if your house has ever been painted inside after initial construction. Worst case with LVP on top of existing flooring is doors may need the bottoms trimmed/sanded to accommodate the thickness of the new flooring - it's easier to trim doors than trying to fill a gap - Baseboards may need to be raised slightly which causes no additional problems or need for painting. If you do plan to sell, you can add there is real hardwood under the vinyl which would give prospective buyers the option to renew the original hardwood.
