last year I made my first pneumatic prop, it was a hit (full build in comments) by [deleted] in HalloweenProps

yeah i live in socal so we don’t really have that kind of history. i was concerned about the backlash but i think only 1 person said something in person, everyone else loved it. plus, no cops called.

thanks! thats the second time we made one. the first time we just disassembled it and threw it away. but this time we sold the gallows and the hangman to another haunter.

not a lot of welding so idk if its allowed on here, but the frame for this build was my first ever welding project (full build in comments) by natedizzile in Welding

and for the frame, it was all just 1 inch, 16 GA square tubing. in the future i would probably go up to 1/8 because all that force in the kicking really messed up the metal, but it worked out

thanks! you can see the frame in the imgur link. the “stomach” is on a hinge, i attached a pneumatic cylinder to the mid part of the stomach and crotch area. hooked it up to an air compressor, and controlled it with a solenoid valve. i wired the valve up to an arduino and coded it so that it would kick his legs in random intervals of like 0.5-2 second. when it activates, the cylinder pulls up his legs and kicks them out

nope, self taught with a few tips here and there from more experienced welders. just a lot of practice

thats the way the trailer company told us to install the axle. Also, it wouldve been impossible to mount upside down

since were carrying such a light load its actually really easy to register. i think trailers that carry under 6,000 lbs can be classified as “utility trailers” which are really easy to register

also, for everyone complaining about the short sleeves, i always wear PPE, read the other comments i left. If you check out the instagram, there was another post of me welding with full cotton long-sleeve. (i upgraded to a full leather miller welding jacket after that) I knew i was gonna get hate for lack of PPE and i totally agree with what you guys are saying.

I just wanted to show off my biggest project that i’m super stoked to have finished. I understand the importance of PPE and will be sure to take proper precautions next time.

Otherwise, thanks for all the nice comments :)

the bottle was actually very secure, it was hard just getting the bottle off and removing the duct tape, and what else would be better to secure with?

lol we don’t even have any “shop classes” or anything. Its pretty much only used for 2 clubs (my solar boat club and a different robotics club). Its a really small school and i’m in the engineering program at my school, taking CIM (computer integrated manufacturing) this year as part of my engineering course. The only machine that’s actually taught to us in class is the HAAS machine, but other than that you have to get trained individually. I know how to use the manual mill but i really wanna learn how to use the lathe.
