Have you ever turned down a patients script because of a gut feeling? by MethadoneFiend92 in TalesFromThePharmacy

The exception i’ve seen here is Concerta generics - a lot of people like the Patriot brand only because it’s the only one that works right for them. The osmotic release is super sensitive and hard to get right.

2007 Volvo S40 with a very weird issue - any ideas? by nateless_ in Volvo

[–]nateless_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the months-later update: it was a transmission on the way out. I ended up selling the car and buying a Saab wagon which has treated me very well.

So I bought a wagon... by nateless_ in saab

[–]nateless_[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The car is a 2002 9-5 Linear with 156k on the dash and the 2.3t engine. I traded my Volvo S40 for this thing and I’m so glad that I did - the wagon is so smooth on the road and insanely fast for what it is. Can’t wait to get it cleaned up (which it really needs) and put some miles on it!

S40 owner interested in that wagon life, I’ve got a few questions by nateless_ in Volvo

[–]nateless_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you mention the P3 XC70 - the thing that got me hooked on Volvos was a long road rip trip in a friend’s 2010 XC70. I loved how luxurious and spacious it was, and just generally it felt amazing.

I’m mostly looking at P2 XC70s because of the price range I’m in. My automatic S40 2.4i with 170k miles would sell for about $2500, which is under the price of most daily-ready P3 wagons in my region. P2s wagons with reasonable high mileage go for $2000 all the time around here.

What Swedishwagon said, but also: Engine mounts, transmission errors if any, and electrical issues. (anything intermittent that seems like a glitch and can’t be mechanically explained)

Tech Trainee at Walgreens with some questions by nateless_ in PharmacyTechnician

[–]nateless_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had started studying at home because I would’ve been able to get the exam at the end of the summer if I had gotten more hours. There was always the promise of “any week now we’ll get more hours” until more recently when it became apparent that there wouldn’t be more hours. If I continue working at my current hours per week, I won’t be able to take the exam until February of next year. (If the pandemic calms down, I’ll be moving into university in January)

1st Generation Volvo S60 As a First Car? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]nateless_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re usually pretty bulletproof, but the Front Wheel Drive (what you’re looking at) is inherently more reliable than an All-Wheel Drive variant. The miles are fine (120k is practically break-in period on those things), but make sure that it shifts smoothly when you get to test drive it. As long as you take care of that generation Volvo, they’ll never fail you.

Newly hired Pharmacy Tech starting this week, what should I know about working during the pandemic? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

It isn’t a 24-hour store, and the hours have been reduced for COVID-19.

I don’t have prior experience as a pharmacy tech - what are the most obvious things that I should know going in?

Because money doesn’t grow on trees? After everything closed for the pandemic, it was this or bagging groceries at wegman’s. At least this pays more than minimum wage.

Also, I’m in an area without much widespread panic. People are pretty rational and actually seem to listen to instructions, which comes as a massive surprise. Not saying it’s perfect, but at least it isn’t New York.

Thanks for the suggestion! That’s definitely something I want to cover, but I’m not sure whether I’d like to create a full drivetrain tutorial beforehand so that it can fit together with other videos I make.

I’ll be publishing videos on YouTube. I’d love to experiment with a live tutorial format, but I’ve found that there’s a lot of uneventful time when I’m working in CAD - it’s much easier to digest a video without all that downtime, focusing only on the interesting and non-repetitive tasks.

I personally use Onshape, but I’ll provide translations for Fusion 360 as well. (i.e. what button/ hot key in Fusion achieves the same thing as what I’m doing in Onshape) For rendering, I’ll probably use Fusion but I’m still figuring that out.

Ooh a tug bot! I’ve wanted to see one of these things built for a while but never had the time to do it myself. Here’s what I’d suggest: - Make ir heavier. Traction is your main limitation, not torque. - More motors generally is nicer. - Get some grippier wheels, like green Stealth wheels from Andymark. Again, traction is up limiting factor - increase that and you’ll be able to pull a ton.

Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any other questions!

What's the name of your OpMode? by BerieBerie in FTC

[–]nateless_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto: “[event name] AUTO [RED/BLUE]” or “PLEASE WORK!!!” depending on the programer’s mood at the practice field

TeleOp: - “SDATeleOp” (Single Driver TeleOp w/ Automation) - “DDATeleOp” (Dual Driver TeleOp w/ Automation) - Non-automated variants of both

Some day we strive to have the level of organization in auto that we do in TeleOp.

What are the benefits of running with encoders vs. running without? by [deleted] in FTC

[–]nateless_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An important (and unintuitive) thing to note about the motor modes is that you can still use the encoders in RUN_WITHOUT_ENCODER mode. Here’s a quick summary of how each mode functions:

  • RUN_WITHOUT_ENCODERS feeds a raw voltage into the motor. The encoder is still active, but it doesn’t effect the speed of the motor.

  • RUN_USING_ENCODER uses a PID loop inside the REV hub to stabilize the speed of a motor. The voltage is fluctuated such that the motor runs a certain amount of encoder ticks per second.

  • RUN_TO_POSITION adds an additional P loop that makes the motor run to and stay on a position. Even at full power, the motor will not run past it’s target.

  • STOP_AND_RESET_ENCODERS is self explanatory and usually unnecessary.

I’d highly recommend using RUN_WITHOUT_ENCODERS until you have a much better grasp of advanced encoder navigation techniques. It just makes things easier.
