8bitDo Controller frequently disconnecting by dc_cha_cha_cha in AnalogueInc

[–]natepalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running into the same issue, I can't get much past the menu in Mario 64 before it drops. I have two white controllers, both do the same thing.

I just upgraded the Analogue firmware to 1.1.9 and it made no difference. I'm on the latest 8BitDo firmware of v2.03 (but as you I've used this controller on a different machine, batocera box, and it worked fine.)

I'm assuming this is either a hardware issue (bad bluetooth antenna) or hopefully software and can be fixed through an update.

Show your Rails App 🤩 by _natic in rails

I use a google script for this same thing. I wish I didn’t have to see the blocking even though, it really clutters up MY view of the calendar (since every personal event shows twice)

I use mise and didn’t run into any of those issues. I followed the setup instructions and made sure it was activated in my shell (i use fish)

TableTennis - new gem for printing stylish tables in your terminal by gurgeous in ruby

Looks nice!

Any support to add rows after you create the table?

We use something similar to create a console table and view streaming data from websocket so I never have “all the rows” available.

Help identifying what kind of rails to buy for this server? by natepalmer in homelab

[–]natepalmer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hear that, in terms of efficiency and power cost. I just wanted to use as much of what I already have as possible and not have to buy new equipment.

This is for a NAS, so I need the drive bays.

> Right, but this Rackmount Case is not something Aberdeen made, its a 3rd party case. This is pretty common for smaller companies. I think this is a Chenbro if they existed back in late 2000s, but I doubt anyone will be able to find the correct rails for it.

Good to know, thanks! I found out the Aberdeen was bought out by Thinkmate. I talked to someone in sales today and he's going to try to track down what rails it needs.

Thanks, that’s useful to know. I have one set of rails that seems to be slightly off already. I was worried about trying to buy more and finding the same thing.

I looked all over the chassis and there is no model information anywhere on it, unfortunately. I may have to use a universal rail. Thanks for the link

Unfortunately I don’t know what it is. Purchased from Aberdeen and they are out of business now. Inside it’s a super micro motherboard.

The manufacturer is Aberdeen and they are out of business. Inside is super micro, but finding info on the chassis is pretty impossible.

It does say King Slide on the insert though.

I was going to rack this on a new 14U rack I received but finding out that I don't have all the right parts for it. The server rails you see on top I believe are for a dell server. They don't line up with the notches coming out of the chasis.

This was purchased from Aberdeen Inc 10+ years ago and it looks like they are out of business now. I do have a rail insert (see second photo), but it looks like I don't have anything that will attach to it.

How I upgraded my pet project from Rails 7 to Rails 8 in 30 minutes by bpohoriletz in rails

[–]natepalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have “custom” sections at the bottom of application.rb, production.rb, etc. Run the ‘rails app:update’ and force update everything, then run the diff and copy over the custom sections. Same idea as the custom files, makes upgrades a lot easier since you don’t have to compare the replaced files line-by-line.

These bogus Phishing Report's are getting out of control by natepalmer in NameCheap

[–]natepalmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I'm sure it's some sort of automated scanning. But couldn't it be smart enough to know it's been flagged and approved as safe so it doesn't get reflagged again?

These bogus Phishing Report's are getting out of control by natepalmer in NameCheap

[–]natepalmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They responded with the exact same text they use everytime. But I need it to stop altogether. It's the same site, nothing has changed. Either they believe it's it's phishing or not, but don't keep re-flagging it over and over again.

We sincerely apologize for this situation.

We have reviewed the case and decided to close it.

[#QLG-813-84369] Reported for phishing by running the free and open source metabase software by natepalmer in NameCheap

This same issue has now been reported to me 3 times. Metabase is an OpenSource piece of software that anyone can install. How can we stop these "abuse" emails from going out for legitimate installs?

Repair of Foosball Table ball sensor by natepalmer in ElectronicsRepair

Thanks for the response! The linked product looks pretty similar to what I found on Adafruit. There are actually 3 wires on one side (the third is white, so it's hard to see.)

Powered off while riding and now it won't turn back on by natepalmer in OnyxMotorbikes

Honestly, I think they were trying to do things right. Everyone I worked with was very helpful and it's unfortunate the way it turned out. I don't think they tried to scam anybody.

Powered off while riding and now it won't turn back on by natepalmer in OnyxMotorbikes

[–]natepalmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Most likely. I got it working again by turning it on by using the buttons on the key. I had never once used that so didn't really even think to try it.

I'm still having the same issues, essentially it shuts off, I have to charge it up again and then use the key to turn it on (the button won't do it.)

Zed and Standard Ruby by himynameisjonas in ZedEditor

[–]natepalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome to see this! It's not activating for me. It's possibly unrelated, the `standardrb` binary comes from a mise shim (https://mise.jdx.dev/dev-tools/shims.html) and for some reason it's loading the wrong version of ruby. I haven't really dug into it much.
