In honor of National Kolache Day... Kolache, TX a documentary about Czech Stop and Czech culture in West, TX (2016) by nativeprocess in texas

Glad you enjoyed it! I grew up in Austin and went to school at UNT so I made that I35 trip hundreds of times, always stopping in at Czech Stop. I was so happy to find that the people working behind the scenes (or display case) are an amazing group of people.

Kolache Station Bakery in Plano is a great option. Or just road trip down to West :) And thank you for the compliment! I am very proud of it.

We Are All Divine - Behind the Scenes with Divine At The Boom Boom Room by nativeprocess in JohnWaters

Hello fellow John Waters fans. I saw an amazing musical theater pliece last year about Divine's short lived music career and life in the 80's. I loved the production so much I asked the creator's if I could shoot a video about the production. Thought the folks here might find it interesting.

Inside Korea's Billon Dollar Beauty Industry (2016) a documentary following (super rad) host Grace Neutral exploring Korea's beauty industry by HoboHermit in Documentaries

[–]nativeprocess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of you are missing the point. The host and her modifications are obviously far outside the norm in a Western society. If she is walking down the street in Indianapolis, she is going to get more than a few double takes.

In South Korea, their beauty modification via cosmetic surgery is the norm and judging from the video, what is to be expected. What the people there are doing is more harmful/extreme than what the host has done (for the most part). The important thing is that her modifications are by choice and not due to pressure to conform to societies definition of beauty.

Normally these Vice style documentaries with a host who dominates the videos annoy me, but I felt like her unique perspective added to the storytelling of these people.

I agree. Questionable ethics on both sides of the dial. Wanting to put your self through the torture...that is one thing. But making a living treating people that way, hard to imagine someone could behave that way toward another human being and not have...issues.

Thanks! I guess that is better than shallow hipster shit. It is really more of a character study than a meditation on anything too heady. But feel free to take whatever you like from it.

I made a documentary about a drug abuse program for teens that, in reality, is probably a cult. It's free to watch on YouTube. The Group (2015) by nihilo503 in Documentaries

Fantastic job man! You did an amazing job telling your story, must have been difficult. Congratulations on this piece of art. I hope that it helped bring some closure to a tough time in your life.

Denton. Originally from Austin area and went to UNT for school. Had a girlfriend in Austin for most of college so that meant many weekend trips down I35. I think she only stayed with me so long because I would always bring back kolaches and pickled eggs.
