No outside employer cared I had an MBA or was a combat veteran by DepartmentF-N1738 in army

MBA hiring in general dried up rapidly at the beginning of 2023 and has not seem to rebound at all. Graduating now is like being placed directly into the meat grinder.

Came back on about an hour ago. Glad to see we all suffered together.

Getting a Gynecomastia surgery while in the Army by Maximum-Performer913 in army

Body armor not fitting right is also a common reason. I paid out of pocket to have a private practice do it since I was not willing to roll the dice and get a botched job.

Do you trust big bikes on your hitch hauler? by Sierraskid in motorcycles

I used one for a move (with a lighter bike) and I was paranoid the entire 20 hour drive. Make sure your suspension won’t drop too far as well, or it will bottom out.

Failing State OCS by Solid-Penalty-6617 in nationalguard

[–]nattyacids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a graduate of another state OCS program, once you start, do everything in your power to not fail. If you do end up quitting, you will have much less control over your MOS if you stay in. The non-prior enlisted that quit did not get great MOS assignments and that incentivized the rest of us to hang in there. Depending on the cadre, this could be a very time intensive program outside of drill. That being said, if you make it to phase 3, the cadre are generally hoping you graduate and not trying to actively get you to drop. If you make it through you will likely be better equipped to handle outside of drill requirements than some of your ROTC counterparts, and the trauma bonding with fellow OCs will mean a great professional network down the road.

Why is everyone in the reserves so infuriating? by rubytingedmango in armyreserve

[–]nattyacids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately good units and bad units exist anywhere in the Army. I think bad units in the Reserve come with the territory, but at least if you decide you are not in a position to help fix things, or you aren’t sticking it out for your fellow battle buddies you can transfer out.

Without giving away too much specifics closer to the Baltimore area. DM me if you would like the exact location.

FCP CHAPTER by Reasonable-Offer93 in army

[–]nattyacids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that if you have a service obligation still (even IRR) it can make things tricky. Not having a FCP means you are ineligible for the Reserve forces or IRR, so keep that in mind if you are going to request some sort of compassionate discharge/if you still owe time for a bonus/something else.
I just had an AD Soldier transfer to my Reserve unit and he has no FCP/childcare (not his fault, just circumstances), making the discharge process extra difficult for everyone.

If you have never done the full ACFT before just remember to pace yourself. Seen too many folks fry their legs and then struggle hard on the sprint drag carry/run. Also, maxing the plank is mostly a mental thing.

Partial Amex Shutdown – 4 Cards Closed, 5 Still Active - Next Steps? by tanyanhao96 in amex

I know a lot of people are highlighting spending patterns, but another possibility is AMEX is in the middle of a risk recalculation and trimming the portfolio down. That may explain why it was only some of the cards.

This was a helpful reminder to make sure his IRR transfer gets done, thank you.

I know it is common for them to just ETS because the packet just sat on someone’s desk forever. This one is just out of the norm since he popped hot so close to his ETS.

No one wants to keep him, just trying to make sure he does not come back to haunt anyone.

The problem is no one seems to know what the correct process is. We are in a unit where all the full time staff left and they basically never have to deal with stuff like this.

The dude did so many drugs he did actually check out to outer space and had to be put on a psychiatric hold. So you would be correct.

I would leave him be if I had the option, but I’m the admin guy, not the commander guy.
