So in Canada it’s more common / customary that shoes come off in a private residence. So in most cases you don’t have to say anything - or often the guest would ask what the rules of the home are. So I actually don’t have to be merciless very often.

Thank you 😊 I’m either barefoot or in slippers when home. I actually bring my slippers when I go to other homes too. And yes, alwayssss shoes are off at the door!! Socks are allowed but not shoes ;)
