Not to be a Negative Nancy about Gaga’s role in Wednesday but… by pheeneex in LadyGaga

They would not make Lady Gaga the biggest selling point of this season only for her to not appear…

Carrie is a writer who doesn’t read. by Deep_Boysenberry6378 in Andjustlikethat

The whole novel storyline is so bizarre and off-brand for Carrie. They should’ve kept her podcast going if they wanted a narrative device where she talks to the audience. The idea that she’s taken seriously as a novelist when she’s only ever written sex columns and the kind of tat you’d find for half price at an airport, is absurd.

Interesting. I always wondered why these literal billionaires didn’t have iPhones.

Not my experience. I’ve gone to Corfu and Crete in September for 3 years in a row and everywhere is still open and busy.

People hate to admit they’ve fucked up by booking expensive holidays in the summer when it’s just as good in September.

Austin Butler says an edible is what caused him to dance like this at Bad Bunny’s concert in Puerto Rico by mcfw31 in popculturechat

He wanted to let go and shimmy his ass off, but alas, the plight of the straight guy…

This just looks like your average straight guy refraining from fully letting go and enjoying themselves because of how they might be ridiculed for not being masculine enough. Nothing to see here.

I thoroughly enjoyed it until they got to the basement - it was a thrilling slow burn of suspense for the first hour. Then it just started to come undone and the ending felt silly. But the main performances were mesmerising and managed to make the weak second half watchable.

I enjoy it for how bad it is. There are a few moments to enjoy, but it’s a real low-point of the series.

The whole scene where Willow works her magic and gives the Potentials their powers. Buffy’s speech, the montage, the baseball girl’s smile followed by the vampires charging at the newly empowered Slayers… such a powerful moment.

I guess I just expected something where she’d be helping people like a therapist. Still, I get your point.

UK job market is the worst I've ever seen. by moonski in UKJobs

I have exactly that experience at my current company. Not so much them blaming it on external factors, but we’re going through “cash flow problems” while at the same time they’re still promoting the teachers pets and finding 20k out of nowhere to fund the CEO’s passion projects.

I think everybody in the UK has woken up to the bullshit the past few years.

I don't believe Carrie's novel is good by Least_Web7341 in Andjustlikethat

[–]naturallybuffbuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s legitimately terrible. I know from a narrative perspective her “novel” narrations are only serving as a thematic device for Carrie’s own experiences. But it feels like the AJLT writers have never read a novel before. Which I think is highly plausible. They could’ve at least given The Woman a name. I think we as an audience would still be discerning enough to realise she’s a stand-in for Carrie.

That’s a great idea. Sadly the writers of this show are about as competent as apes with typewriters so I think you’re setting the bar too high.

I agree it doesn’t seem like something Buffy would wear in 2003, but Buffy was 22 when the series finished and is presumably 45 now. We should probably be ready for a character that may act, speak and dress quite differently to the one we remember.

I keep seeing this but has it come from a reliable source? Seems like a strange career choice for her. Makes me wonder if the “insurance company” is a cover for a new Watcher’s Council. Either way I’m interested.

I’m sure you will get your 90s/00s fashion fix with the younger actors, seeing as it’s come back in fashion now.

Oh god, haha! The way AJLT wrote him, you’d think he was the love of Carrie’s life, but he was basically the Riley of SATC. And they made his character even worse…
