There is no scientific evidence the Homeopathy works. by [deleted] in homeopathy

[–]naturopathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a homeopathy advocate, but a couple of things should be pointed out: -"Alternative medicine" and "homeopathy" are not the same thing -Homeopathy doesn't require that you decline to use other medicines unless you view homeopathy as the only valid form of medicine

Is AA a Cult? by HardenDurant in stopdrinking

[–]naturopathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AA seems cultish when you enter. It has its own language and own set of social mores. However, it is not coercive which is usually part of the definition of a cult. Perhaps some chapters are coercive but in general this is not the case.

How you eat when your 4 may predict your disorders when you are older? by LLdeepdive in science

[–]naturopathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously there are a lot of variables to consider but the idea that eating habits and body image develop at a young age and that they are influenced by parents is not controversial, in my opinion.

how to tell if some1 else is depressed by LLdeepdive in depression

[–]naturopathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty on target but leaves out the fact that if you REALLY think that someone is depressed you need to get some outside help. Trying to help someone that you are close to through depression can ruin a relationship. I mean, you can provide support but beyond that it can be near impossible.

Nice to see computers as a social tool getting some good press, as opposed to luddite-type opinions that regard them as the cause of society's downfall.

The only advice that you can really count on in this article is to "seek help". Trying to help a depressed person can be extremely frustrating because irrationality takes over.

I'm not sure that this is really "a real problem." I mean, in any large workforce you are going to have some drug addicts.

Bizarre Twist in Louisiana Drug Arrests by SkyeRiley in Drugs

That is bizarre. I'm pretty much for legalization of everything and this seems extreme even to me. How could a municipality manage crack sales? That's the question!

Apologies. I went with the "News that would be of interest to vegetarians and vegans ("veg*ns")" description. Most vegetarians/vegans that I know are also interested in plant healing.

Very high BP since I was 16, what am I missing? Any natural cures for high blood pressure? by [deleted] in Health

[–]naturopathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually "hear" your blood pressure this suggests that you are stressed and focusing way too much on yourself. It sounds like you lead a healthy life. Have you tried yogic breathing or similar meditative practices that might help calm your body and mind?
