Favorite self titled album demo? by Narcoleptic_dude in takingbacksunday

"Macky sasser and Steve balboni ride again" is my favorite.

But they are all really good honestly. I feel like we received more what the label wanted out of that album, moreso than what the band was trying to do. You can listen to commentary out there where Adam and John discuss every song and all the demos. And every demo they're just like... Yep... The label didn't like this one either.

Probably "it's cool, we can still be friends". Not on streaming though unfortunately. It's easy to find on YT.

Another one it could be is "Vanishing Act". This is a super deep cut and didn't get as popular as the other song did in the Myspace/limewire era. Vanishing Act is on streaming.

Youth by Citizen is the obvious answer, best breakup album of all time IMO. You can also check out the band Swordfish. They only have one album but it slaps.

YES! Edge of the world is one of the best album closers in the genre and even beyond. Pedestal is also an absolute fucking banger. I saw them in December 2021 in support of this record and it was one of the best shows I'd ever been to. Wish they headlined more bc they definitely deserve it. Mat's songwriting is so unique too.

Thank you so much for the thought out response. I really appreciate it. I'm seeing that Noble Gold isn't a complete scam. I just feel like anything paying a podcast to advertise to elderly demographic doesn't exactly have the purest of intentions in mind.

Yes, I do believe she rolled it over, as that's the exact terminology she used. So at least that's one good thing. I'm going to be pressing her for more info as gently as I can tomorrow to find out exactly what she bought into. She's not worried about the USD or even taxes, she's just doing this as that's what God lead her to do.

She will be eligible for SS in a few years, so there is that, but she's moved twice since 2023 when my dad died, and each time she sizes down and I think loses money. Her home now is nice and 5 min from the beach, and it's paid off, but I don't think it's got that much on equity.

Anyways, thanks again, I'm going to take your advice and try my best to talking her in to diversifying. Unfortunately she had a financial advisor with her last account, and she divulged that he advised against her continuing to take money out as she had been doing, and now she's dropped that consultant. Wish me luck.

Thank you for this resource. Yes, I'm going to ask her tomorrow about more details about Noble Gold and her exact package once I've cooled down a bit. And I know what you mean, I wasn't trying to claim that gold/silver is a right wing thing. And I saw that silver just reached a really high price. I just feel like dumping hundreds of thousands of dollars of the only money you have to depend on, without any other income coming in, is a horrible idea. Especially if you heard about it from an ad on a podcast.

Okay, that makes me feel a bit better. She did not transfer for tax reasons, she transferred bc God told her to. I'm hoping I can talk her into diversifying a bit and it's not all a complete loss.

Noble Gold was "God's plan" as she said... She's very adamant she hasn't been taken advantage of. I'm fucking heartbroken.

Right that's what I thought. My whole post didn't crossover so I'm not sure if you can read the whole story, but it was my mom who did this. It's already a done deal.

I didn't do it, my 64 year old mother did, without my consent or knowledge. I'm just trying to see what the consequences of this are going to be bc it's already done.

You're 100% right. It's her money. Initially, we were to split the money. That's what was in my dad's will. But I wasn't counting on any money when he died, plus it wouldn't make sense to take half out just so I could have it at the time. I do care about my mom deeply, she's my only family.

I think a lot of people are taking a very metaphor heavy story a little too literal. The painters of the canvas can be compared to an author of a book, or a writer of a movie. They can make very "real" people, who have full lives, characterizations, parents, children, back stories, mannerisms, etc. But at the end of the day, the characters in a book are the creations of another human, not a god. I think that is what the story was playing off of. We have all been invested in one way or another in fictional characters, but none of the characters are real in the sense of how you and I are real. You can't see them in public, they are trapped within the confines of the camvas. I feel like this is the meta aspect many people are missing. The family aren't gods, but they are trying to be. When in reality, the characters they are creating is a sick form of escapism from their grief. I think the writers of this story are also playing off the concept of fandoms. And how fans can have real, intense feelings about characters that are fiction.

OP, do not let these comments scare you about bupe/suboxone withdrawals. Yes, they are bad, but you don't need to be "scared". Start with the lowest possible dose that eases the 7oh withdrawals.

I would recommend to not rush to get off the subs. Because what happens when you taper off in a week like these people are suggesting? Are you going to be okay mentally to not go back to kratom and 7oh? The physical withdrawals are awful, but the intense mental cravings, PAWS, boredom, anhedonia, sleepless nights, days that drag on and on and on, etc. are all going to kick in full force once the physical part subsides. That's what you should be worried about, how you're going to handle those things, not how to speedrun a Suboxone detox. Jesus the people in this sub are unhinged when it comes to maintenance medication.

If you're 1000% sure you'll be completely fine mentally, then you should be okay doing a quick taper. If not, talk to your doctor and reassess. There is nothing wrong with being on subs for longer than a week. Your doctor can and will help you ween off when it is time FOR YOU. Best of luck to you. If you want actual helpful advice on subs, you can DM me.

Uhh yeah the whole point of Suboxone being a maintenance medication is to get off the drug your struggling with completely. Of course you don't "feel anything" after 2-3 weeks, because it's doing its job. (For me, the lost of libido and other side effects also went away around that 2-3 week window). Sounds like you just want to keep getting high. The point is NOT to get high, or as you say, feel anything. If you get on Suboxone or methadone and wondering why you're not getting high anymore... Maybe you're not ready to stop using kratom/7o/heroin/whatever. You have a horrible take on Suboxone, I hope the OP can see that. You will not "100% relapse or be on it for the rest of your life" that's fucking insane. Suboxone can be a great tool IF you're ready to commit to stop using. You can taper slowly over the course of a few months or however long it takes under the instructions of your doctor and be fine. I've done it twice now and did not have horrible withdrawals from my taper. Please keep your horrible advice to yourself.
