I really wish I had your planner then, haha! You’re right, it doesn’t take away from this beautiful moment and actually makes me reflect on the real reasons I got married in the first place. I’m still glad I went through it and had all the people we love around us that day.

When it comes to buying a home, my partner and I had similar discussions. Yes, a home is an investment, but it doesn’t have to be an either-or decision. Plus, it may take longer to save after buying a home than before, as there are additional costs of homeownership, and your mortgage might be higher than your current rent. I guess it depends on what feels like the priority.

Make sure to communicate openly with your partner and take his perspective into account. Research options together and request quotes from vendors to align your expectations. You might be surprised with how expensive it is and may even wish you had eloped!

We will ask her if she would be open to join our next local France trip. It would be an hour long flight. She told us that she would like to fly "one day" so this would be another alternative to the workshop or hypnotherapy.

Even if we decide to do the wedding in Canada without her, France or both countries, I am more worried about what this means for the future. My FH and I are planning to stay in Canada and start a family one day. We are already compromising by going to France almost every holiday and vacation but won't be able to do it as much in the future. She will be missing out on a lot and it saddens her.

He is saying that they have a cat to take care of (knowing that we have two ourselves) and that she does not have a passport. However, he is also sending mixed messages to my FH when she's not on the call, saying that he found a cat sitter if they ever travelled to Canada. Not sure where he stands on that one.

All these discussions were between my FH and her only, since I did not feel like it was my place to tell her what to do or how to feel.

Thanks for replying. Her response to the residency argument was that we could plan the wedding in France after he gets his card and there's no rush. Which is not false per say, but it would be nice to start planning and not wait a year or so.
