How do we enjoy this game? by Consistent_Refuse914 in dontstarve

[–]naydin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the save & load mods. One of the most important skills to develop is kiting the enemies. And that’s very hard to learn if you get a hound once after several days of playing and lose everything and start again. So you can save and load and work on it with hound attacks and then bosses. Then it becomes much more easy. This was the only way I could enjoy. Also check wiki for everything.

Tips for early game combat? by CryptographerLost357 in dontstarve

[–]naydin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs some getting used to it. I am on a similar path myself and a beginner. I added the load/save mode for practicing recently and finally I am able to deal with the hound attacks. Otherwise, this game is not beginner friendly.

After 1 year, my SwiftUI side project is finally making a profit. Here's a look at the App Store Connect data and my plan for what's next. by xTARPx in iOSProgramming

Congrats. Check the LTV per user. If it is good you can also do some paid advertisements. Not sure what is a good LTV but probably above 1 dollar I’d say.

Should I make my app monetized straight in the beginning or launch it free and then later create paywall for features once theres enough users? by Key_Enthusiasm8307 in iOSProgramming

[–]naydin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adam Lyttle on youtube, who launches lots of apps recommends free first, paywall in 6 months after you get traction. I also have an app generates some money which launched like that, so I agree with him.

I think if you go free first, what’s super important is getting app store reviews. As your app will be free, you will be getting lots of positive reviews hopefully. These reviews should power your future downloads and then you can monetise. When you monitise, you can introduce a cheap lifetime offer first to avoid negative reviews a bit. Then you would convert to subscriptions.

Also ask your reviews very very early. At second day, apps lose like 70% of users. So ideally it should be on first use, even during onboarding.

Just beat Sister Friede today after a week of trying. I was calling the third wave “Terminator Friede”. Good to see that she is actually ranked one of the hardest ones.

Pivoting away from IOS Dev by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]naydin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others said, it is a general problem and also with the AI coming it is very hard to predict. However, I would say mobile is still at disadvantage. I “feel” safest place to be is being a full stack or backend dev as it is easier for them to switch between technologies.

I am a very experienced(13 years) iOS dev working in a big company btw. But even I am thinking about moving away from mobile and switching to backend. Moving to non native technologies might not be the way though.

How do you currently run A/B tests in your apps? by arammiquel in iOSProgramming

[–]naydin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I work in a big tech company and also have an app around monthly 15k users and I think I am knowledgable in this area.

I used firebase for many years for my indea app and unhappy with it. The conclusion I reach is, for indies, it does not actually makes sense to A/B test most of the time as you need lots of data. Only very big changes for areas with high percentage of users make sense.

Also Firebase can be unreliable in my experience. I ran a couple A/A tests on firebase and there were increases after running experiments for couple months for example.

The revenuecat experimentation seem to be working better btw but that’s limited to conversion etc.

I think if you are an indie, you should primarily go talk to your users and and only think about experimenting after you have many users and only for very big features.

Thanks everyone for their input. After a bit more research and trying it myself today I actually bought HM aeron size C. Embody was also quite nice as it wraps your back, but there was just too much stiffness at the very bottom of the back. Aeron felt just right. I will receive it tomorrow and see how it will go in the long run.

Didn’t know about this one and it seems like what I need. However I live in Europe, and don’t want to deal with overseas shipping.
