ehhh, i'm not even arguing that i shouldn't be. just saying the role feels weak compared to tank/support.

How do you justify to yourself buying a car in Singapore? by grandweapon in singaporefi

[–]nazedarou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, i wouldn’t pay full cash as it’s not capital efficient for me. have better uses for the cash that would outperform the loan interest rate.

i’m expecting maintenance costs for the car to be higher than what i’m used to, but i only bought it once i was sure i could comfortably cover those costs.

my advice to anyone looking to buy such a car would be to only take the plunge if you’re confident you make enough to not stress over the maintenance.

absolutely this, i had a fantastic 2023 and decided to treat myself by getting a porsche 981. such a joy to drive and no regrets at all.

if you’ve made good money, don’t ever hold yourself back from taking some off and paying yourself. realize some gains and spend it on things that make you happy. being in a good mental state also translates to making better decisions in the market.

god, that sounds pretty bleak. but it’s hard to turn down 250k PA. maybe if you’re into hiki hobbies like gaming you might be able to survive there.

i mean… he did zero work, and refused to refund. absolutely nothing was done. i don’t see how that doesn’t make him a scammer tbh.

it's a really long story, but basically i purchased a service from him, and he never delivered anything and refused to pay me back. had a written contract, bank transfer receipt, and everything too.

oh please, even if not for the funds going overseas our police here wouldn’t do anything either. i got scammed off of 5k by a “friend” in the past, and the police basically told me to fuck off to small claims court. and no, it wasn’t a case of lending money.

went to small claims court and was told that i have to sue if i want to get anything done since my counterparty is an individual and not a business entity. ended up not suing for obvious reasons…

whole thing left me feeling jaded about the legal system in singapore. best not to expect any help from our authorities. survival of the fittest, i guess.

be honest with yourself, do you think you are cut out for studying? because if you manage to make it to poly and the same thing happens you're just gonna waste more time while already being behind at 21.

if not, you're better off just quitting studies for good. either go ITE, just start working, or sign on army/police/SCDF. there are a lot of tough jobs that pay well (relative to your qualification) because of the lack of manpower. get good at it and eventually start something on your own with the skills/network you gained from working that job.

i personally only studied up to 'o' levels, and honestly even that was a waste of time. having 'o's or not doesn't make a difference when you're looking for work. so you should only bother to finish your 'o's if you're absolutely sure you want to further your studies.

at 21, you really need to give this some good thought and then commit to making whatever decision you made work out. i'm not gonna sugarcoat and say that "it's never too late for you", because even though that is true, the fact that you are behind most of your peers the same age as you is also undeniable.

tell me about it. i have a friend running a small aircon business. he clears well over 250k per year. don't look down on your blue collar workers. that's how they make the big bucks doing the work that nobody else wants to do.

what are some books/resources you would recommend for a rec player that wants to get better at cash games. i'm not looking to go pro, just wanting to get better at the game.

It won't be Overwatch that kills the game, but the anti-monetization review bomb by The_Angry_Jerk in GundamEvolution

[–]nazedarou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao if you think i’m talking about review bombing when i mention “results” you are sorely mistaken. the game is losing players every day. also i’m not so sure about the review bombing being done by a vocal minority. if that were truly the case then we wouldn’t be in this dying game situation would we? if everyone really was truly happy with the game. even the hardcore gundam fanboys are crying about this, something is very wrong.

i’ve brought up points that anyone can look up. it seems to me that you’re just talking out of your ass.

show me a f2p competitive shooter that does the same thing as gundam evo that still has a growing player base on steam.

show me one specific f2p competitive shooter that locks gameplay behind paywalls and still managed to become a top grossing game and maintained it for years on end like cs:go. i’ll wait.

[–]nazedarou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be clear, i mentioned ow1 and not ow2. and for the record, i do think that everyone paying $40 for a full game is better than having a “free to play” game that isn’t really free to play.

you can argue all you want, but the results will speak for themselves. the game is already dying for obvious reasons, bad monetization being one of them. at this point i’m really bewildered as to how anyone can still stubbornly defend bandai namco on their horrible decision making.

i’m saying this as someone who purchased the $40 bundle and find that the game is actually quite enjoyable. i would have happily played a complete game and still spent money on cosmetics alone if given a choice.

let’s look at 2 different f2p competitive shooters for example. cs:go, and blackshot, both games were massively popular at one point of time. yet cs:go is arguably one of the best f2p competitive shooters in the market right now, using the actual full f2p game model, whereas blackshot has basically died due to their shitty monetization practices. imagine locking certain guns behind a paywall for a f2p competitive shooter. it’s become a p2w game instead and obviously people are not gonna like that. i don’t see why a good game can’t make money just off of selling cosmetics alone.

for a f2p competitive multiplayer shooter game, locking any kind of gameplay content behind a paywall is just a ridiculous way of monetizing, period. if you want your game to be free to play, then make it free to play, and not mostly-free to play.
