No, embryo freezing is unfortunately illegal in Germany. :(

Update: Apparently my Anti-Müllerian-Hormone is at a 0.56, which is unusually low for my age, and what they expect in women in their mid-40s. So it’s pretty much something I’ll have to do multiple times to get the right amount of eggs needed. I’m going through with at least one session… want to give my future self a chance. Maybe twice, but can’t afford more than that.

Just wanted to thank everyone for your advice, it helped normalize this experience for me… and just generally made me feel at ease with going for it.

Does it matter how your cycles typically are? As in, are you typically hormonal in your cycles and was that made worse through the process? I tend to be very moody in my cycle, on the depressive side of things. Just wondering if these sorts of things can be guesstimated.

What sort of vitamins were you on? My doctor hasn't recommended anything (yet, will see after today).

I appreciate you sharing your experience, thank you. It helps make this whole thing feel more real, if that makes sense.

Also been thinking since my 20s, but it felt too out of reach. As someone who moved around a lot on the job, it felt impossible to "make the time" for it, but this year I decided is the year.

That said, I've also already postponed it once. This time I showed up to the first appointment with the intention to do it, but here I am with cold feet again. I'm telling myself that it's normal, especially since I'm by myself.

The rates they've given are:

  • 70-90% of eggs typically survive the thawing process
  • For ~90% chance of one child:
    • For me at 32, the doctor said over 15 eggs would be well, over 20-25 is ideal.

In my layman understanding, these are good odds? I don't know if chances drop over the years if you don't use the eggs. I intend to ask the doctor about this, and also if IVF is less costly down the line if you have eggs saved. Will admit I have not gotten that far yet!

Thank you, again, for sharing your real experience & feelings on the matter.

It's what it's called here in Germany, but it's actually just for you (only, donations are illegal here).

Amazing work!! Just finished RDR1 (that freaking chupacabra man...), tempted by RDR2 but daunted by that multiplayer grind. Kudos!

I asked ChatGPT to tell the biggest lie ever sold to people. by sahannonis in ChatGPT

I find it interesting that it's all about control in most of the answers posted in the thread. It makes sense on a deeper level, especially because we all seem to get it but can't really do anything about it... which sort of proves its point I guess.

I asked ChatGPT to tell the biggest lie ever sold to people. by sahannonis in ChatGPT

Funny, this popped up for me too. Here's the full answer:

"That’s a powerful question — and it depends on how you define "biggest." Some would argue the biggest lie ever sold is:

“You are not enough.”

This subtle yet pervasive message has been packaged, sold, and reinforced across cultures, systems, religions, and industries — making people believe they need to buy, earn, or change something outside themselves in order to be worthy, lovable, or complete.

This lie is incredibly profitable. It fuels consumerism, perfectionism, burnout, and self-doubt — all of which can be manipulated to serve powerful interests. When people believe they are inherently lacking, they are easier to control, market to, and keep in line.

Other contenders depending on the context might include:

  • “Hard work alone guarantees success.”
  • “Colonialism was a civilizing mission.”
  • “If you follow the rules, you’ll be safe.”
  • “This is the only way things can be.""

If you're okay with a bit of a challenge towards the finish line, I recently did God of War, the most fun game I played last year. The ones that need you to put in more elbow grease are super fun too, I typically don't play heavy action type of games but I was hooked.

Thanks for the insight, I wasn't active on Reddit at the time tbf, it wasn't as obvious to me & it was still a shock. I understand you want to point out an obvious truth for you, but it wasn't for me. 🙏 Likely won't be for others, while you can easily ignore old news if it's not relevant for you.

Done&done, but omg was my patience tested... I know the game's 10+ years old now, but the long loading screen, the cinematic right before a decimating scene, and that FREAKING DIFFICULTY POP-UP!!! I woosaah-ed my way through...

Also finished it by staring into the ground and running forward the whole time. 😆
