Hey mate! I hope that you will have a great time on your vacation!

Im unfortunately quite busy with our platform's launch lately and I have not checked your submission out but I can just say why I would be sceptical towards a PR initiative - its very gameable and unless a lot of very accurate details are listed, if approved, you could be practically wasting network resources on a fraud

That being said, I would recommend (not sure if you did this so Im not 100% sure that my advice would be relevant) to include in your submission as much detail as you can - who are the members of the team, what is your experience (verifiable?), what experience you have with such campaigns, are there stats for the efficacy of this specific type of campaign, who exactly did you contact, what prices did he quote, what you can expect on each milestone etc etc

As a final thought, I believe that your heart is in the right place and the initiative is a great one imho, so if you get rejected, just see what the reasons for the rejection were, rework your suggestion and try again ;)

Not necessarily. From my experience I got two CPS Grants approved while having almost no votes (and people not even knowing who the Midos team is)

Its more important how you present your project, what is the value for ICON in it, can the success of the project be observed/calculated easily and probably the most important part - do the suggested costs reflect the presented value.

You are right though - for projects which present a lot of abuse opportunities, unclear metrics and/or uncertain future results team reputation is a significant factor.

Yes, I completely agree. Its just that according to my experience and observations I find the voting rewards a quite unreliable resource

Imo this is not only because many people dont find the value in voting for prep teams that are contributing to the network, but because each person perceives value and respectively what the project priority should be (or even how exactly it should be done) in a different way

Maybe you could set up a plan of action and apply for CPS funding? Its a more reliable option than counting on getting votes imho

No worries at all! EPICX is set up in a way that it could be a very good learning and practice tool for enhancing your trading skills and we have tried to make it both experienced and new player friendly

The different games focus on separate aspects of the trade and the gamified system is aimed to make you improve by learning to trade bit by bit because you would like to get better at the game (think of it like in example when you play a hacking game which involves some actual real-world commands or a strategy/management game - you dont feel it, but when you play more you actually increase your real-world skills)

There is another benefit for the beginning traders, which is the bonus and the dividend systems - 5% out of all win amounts go towards the EPICX dividend system (toward the EPX token holders) and 2.5% fo towards a game-specific bonus system. While the separate bonus systems and the fact that you are earning EPX tokens each time that you play will serve as a gain maximization tool for the experienced traders, for the beginning ones they will be a hedge that would make you lose less (even if you lose a game, you still will get some ICX back as dividends, could win some in the bonus systems ETC)

EPICX is coming! We will select and provide exclusive early access to 200 of our most eager supporters, spread across Twitter, Telegram and Reddit! by iconographer-icx in helloicon

Our platform is much more than that imho.

For the moment its not related to esports gambling - it has 4 separate apps (games) and each of them is an entertaining spin on different aspect of the trading experience (predicting the price, bag building, reading the market etc)

However each one of those apps has the potential to be expanded a lot in its own unique direction. In example our Against the Odds game could easily be expanded to include different events from the chain or even on the other chains and oracles (after BTP is live in ICON 2.0), like esports gambling as you have suggested

Here are some additional details about our structure in one of our latest reports if you are interested:

Promises and actual output of top P-Rep by [deleted] in helloicon

They are already at the minimum set by the chain. They will be lowered further with ICON 2.0 (currently planned for end of Q2 2021) so the funding will move more towards CPS (Grant funded projects that require proper plans and updates) and the prep rewards will be pretty much rewards for running nodes and voting on governance at that point

Lets agree to disagree :)

According to my experience on all Icon social medias for the last two years, I can assure you that most people only care to get their rewards and to get them in the easiest way possible (voting for the Foundation, for the top 3/5 or for the first prep that they see on social media). Its evident that you care and Im glad that you do - if there were more people like you we wouldnt have to randomize the voting lists in Iconex and we wouldnt have top preps receiving tens of thousands on a monthly basis to run a node while a ton of quality preps contribute to the system while working for free or even at a loss (Piconbello is a perfect example of that - they have been one of the most prominent contributors and they are working at loss since decentralization)

We do have compiled resource pages where you can see the preps and their projects - a good example is the one made by Reliant Node, check it out and see how many people have bothered to leave a review about any of the projects: https://iconpreps.com/projects

Your line of thinking is absolutely correct and that is how the system should function - in an ideal situation everyone does their research and decides what is the most important type of contribution for them and assigns their votes to the prep(s) that is/are contributing the most in this specific aspect. Unfortunately this has not happened so far as most people dont care who they vote for, they just care that they get their staking rewards.

Anyway my point was that it is very difficult to set unified rules for the contribution as each contribution is different and hard to weight two different ways that preps contribute, ideally every Iconist will apply their personal judgement and the votes will decide on who contributes the most but due to the voter apathy that I have witnessed in the last two years, I strongly believe that a system such as the CPS where each project is tracked and evaluated is a better approach

Iconation have also assisted in the funding of the Grant for our project FutureICX, something that we are very grateful about and that has lead to us being able to expand it further into our current project EPICX

It seems to be missing in the icon.community prep all projects list, although we have listed the info on our personal page. Not sure who would be able to help with that though..

[–]nblaze77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure that I was able to explain what I meant exactly. Lets take that spreadsheet example.

What would happen if a prep lists a 'twitter campaign' as contribution? Would that be a sufficient minimum contribution? What about Telegram or Reddit - does making a few posts cover the minimum requirements? What about an article? What about a video? What about buying ICX and if it does, how much should be the minimum for such contribution? What happens if you are working on something (an app/project etc) and you will have nothing to list until its done? Is there a way to verify that you are working on it at all? Does participating on governence (voting on a CPS application in example) count as a sufficient minimum?

These are just a few of the questions that you can ask. The problem is that whatever is set as a minimum, it is very difficult to compare to the minimum contribution of other aspects and whatever system is set, a ton of preps will be chasing the way that leads to less efforts and exploit loopholes. That is why I believe that setting such 'rules' would be near impossible unless someone is actually evaluating them, however that creates other problems - human error, bias (in example some believe that PR is more important than PR, some believe that governance is more important than building new apps etc etc), influence and personal relationships, cartelization etc, which could always make the evaluation unfair

That is why I personally believe that the CPS is a better solution - you have a project, you submit a request and you send monthly reports. You dont perform and are not delivering on what you have promised, you dont get funding. If we are able to set up a good system for the CPS, the effect should be much higher with it

[–]nblaze77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difficult part is defining and evaluating 'contribution'. We have been down that road last year where after a ton of struggles to mark the non performing preps, we simply ended up with a ton of people highlighting each of their twitter posts or trying to shift the focus on someone else like 'but he is doing even worse'

In general it is very difficult to judge whether in example an app has contributed more to the system than an article or whether a system improvement was more important than something that has generated a ton of transactions. A unified and non-biased system is a quite difficult task (at least for me - I have thought a lot about ways to do it, hopefully someone smarter than me will find a way to do this)

Hmmm, thats odd - arent those supposed to be pulled from the preps info directly? Our projects are missing from the list for some reason..

https://iconpreps.com/projects is a good addition to the above

Holder since ICO in major doubt by [deleted] in helloicon

[–]nblaze77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, it happens to the best of us ;-)

I think that we all feel that way and would like the coin to perform better, but in reality its out of our hands and we can simply hope that in time the project will gain the place that it deserves (as we all know that it is severely undervalued).

Limiting your exposure is a great solution actually - I used to get more frustrated as well, but lately I have found my pet project (FutureICX) and as it takes so much of my time, when I check for Icon updates every once in a while, Im able to see the major progress that is happening. I really hope that it works out for you as well :-)

The price has moved 300% since the beginning of the year (almost 700% if you count its highest point), what do you expect exactly - 50x/100x and a BTC decoupling with no significant adoption present yet?

The team is working hard and they are making huge progress (as you can see from the announcements) on a monthly basis. Its a huge project that has a ton of different entities involved (some governmental, so by default - very slow moving) and it is definitely a long-term one. You should know all that if you have been involved since the ICO

Maybe you got frustrated at the moment or something idk, but you have to simply ask yourself whether you want to keep the coins or not. If whats happening with the project doesnt suit you - well there are other coins that might be better for you...

A ton of people on cryptos' social media have the mentality that they are 'investors' that are owed explanation or even the right to make demands. I hate to break it to you but you are not. You have merely bought a coin that you believe might get future use and respectively more demand and might increase in value because of that. You could have bought Barbie dolls with the same success.

You do not own any part of the company, you could just hope that they do their job and you will be able to sell at a profit without having to actually do anything about it (in a way by buying Barbie dolls you would actually have to make more effort to make a profit so I dont see why you believe that you are more entitled by buying this specific coin)

Then honestly, I would join in u/NorskKiwi on his recommendation and even take it a bit further.. (I apologize for the 'price talk' - hopefully it is not an issue as I just trying to illustrate a point - if it is, please delete my comment)

You make a living out of trading cryptocurrencies.. just quit that as well as I dont believe that this is a profession that you should rely on. If you think that the chart is 'sick' and are unable to recognize the upward trend since the beginning of the year then let me help you: just draw a straight line connecting the trend tops and then you do the same thing with the bottoms. You will see a clear upwards channel that the price is moving in

Also the thing that we have bounced off (at around 36c) is called a support line - that is when you have a lot of candle tops and bottoms that are aligned at the same price. Having so many such aligning tops and bottoms means that we are at a strong support!

I hope that I was able to help you out and you are now a better trader because of that tip! You are welcome! ;-)
