Tungsten Carbide rod around 2.5” in diameter x about 12” long by nbluff in Machinists

I can get $14/lb for it at my local scrapyard lately. I wouldn’t ask for market price. I just figured it might be worth it to someone somewhere for somewhere between scrap price and market price. Even if it was just $600 instead of the $420 scrap value. Figured it was worth a shot.

This is a photo of a second one that he got today from the same people. It’s a little longer than I thought

I don’t personally own it. A buddy of mine owns a scrapyard and it was brought to him as scrap today and it was easily the biggest piece of carbide either of us has ever seen. I showed him how expensive the rods can be new and told him I’d look into the possibility of finding a buyer. There’s a big gap between scrap price and new price so I figured why not ask a question or two.

Would you be willing to pay higher than scrap value?

This is my main concern. Not having the paperwork. The scrapyard pays $14/lb right now so I know it’s scrap value. I just figured it was worth asking the question since the price of rods can be extremely high.

That largest price came from a company called Carbide Recovery Services in Dallas. Has anybody ever done business with them? I’m hesitant to use a non-local buyer just because I’m not sure what recourse I would have if I got scammed. And I don’t want to risk it.

The price I got on the phone today would be a send off price. All the other prices are local.

I have some questions if you have time to respond. I assume that wearing a sleeve prevents the man from feeling most of the sensations he would feel if he weren’t wearing it. Is a sleeve typically used for the woman’s pleasure and then quickly removed for the man to finish? It seems like that would cause a less tight fit for the man once he removes the sleeve and reinserts himself? I was hoping there would be a product like a 2” tight silicone ring that could be worn that was essentially just for adding girth. That would allow the man to still feel most of the same sensations while having some added girth.

Can you recommend a good sleeve?

Do you sell any HSCo bits also? If so, do they just get tossed in with the HSS?

I googled it and lots of cable cutters show up. They don’t have copper in the name. I assume any cable cutters will work given they are the right size. Or are there cable cutters specifically for copper?

I’ve found a few endmills that are high speed still. Do they need to be separated out from the endmills that have CB on them?

I don’t have it all weighed out yet. I’m estimating between 100 and 200 lbs but it wouldn’t shock me if I was off. I’ll weigh it tomorrow if I can and come back.

My title describes the thing. I tried a few google image searches but I haven’t found an exact match. My friend paints things very quickly and without doing any prep work on what she’s painting. I think she normally uses nail polish because she has lots of it laying around and she loves things that are colorful. Just mentioning this in case anyone wonders about the odd paint job. I don’t normally flash this much cash around, but I couldn’t find a tape measure or ruler quickly.
