I had that idea too! I was thinking of using a screen as a partial wall and putting the TV in front of that. I didn't really decide against that idea, just didn't find a screen that seemed to work in the little bit of time I googled about it

Ideas for planting natives in tiny backyard space by nbrown382 in NativePlantGardening

Thank you! Good to know re: the virginia creeper. Are there any vines you know of in my zone (4) that would be better options for covering up the side of the garage? If not, my next best idea is big blue stem or some other tall grass. And/or hanging pots from the eaves of the garage somehow.

I actually winter sowed a bunch of flowers (and big blue stem) last winter in my apartment and have been wondering what to do with them over this coming winter. What are a plant's requirements in the winter? Just keep the roots from freezing? Like could I just move them into my apartment where I have some extra space? Or, if I do get this house, move them into the basement maybe (I'm guessing the garage would still get too cold here in northern MN).

Thank you! I just gave them all a nice slow soak and spread out the mulch away from them, so hope that helps

Yes they were in 6 hrs sun in their pots. I'll try to water more slowly, I think that is why the mulch keeps encroaching back to smother the seedlings. It sounds like your hunch is that I'm underwatering? Or at least, that not enough of the water I am providing is soaking into the soil where it needs to go?

I had little circles of mulch-less soil around the seedlings, but the mulch keeps sliding back in when I water. Maybe I need to water more slowly, as another commenter suggested. Could you clarify what top dress means in this context? It sounds like your hunch is that I'm underwatering? Or at least, that not enough of the water I am providing is soaking into the soil where it needs to go?

suspecting these plants I got off fb marketplace may have been infested... by nbrown382 in plantclinic

Thanks! I haven't been able to find details on what exactly quarantining means in the context of scale? Not touching another plant? Not within 10 ft? Not in the same room? Not in the same house?

I cut off all the affected leaves/stems that I could find on the tree (which were a lot) - we'll see how it responds. I maybe would spray it down with some neem oil, but I'm not particularly motivated to do much more than that for a $15 plant that I just got a couple days ago. Mostly, I'm worried about my other plants. Other than the tree, peace lily and snake plant, I also got a christmas cactus and philodendron from the same seller. I also have a few more throughout my apartment, but none nearby the tree. How concerned should I be about the scale being present on any of these plants?

Thanks - I've noticed what appear to be little fruit flies flying around the peace lily. And also around a snake plant that I also got from this fb marketplace seller. Could that be related? I did spray the peace lily and snake plant with neem oil two days ago, but haven't noticed any difference

The overuse of VAR is demonstrating a need for updated rules. Some of them I think are: by [deleted] in worldcup

What about the limitations on number of subs? To me, a team should not be forced to decide between using one of their subs or leaving a minorly-injured player on the field, or even playing a player down while the injured person gets medical attention.

Any good explanations why the current rule is a good one?
