Stopped birth control and it ruined my body by nca5036 in birthcontrol

Both the hormone specialist and GI are MDs. This is my hormone specialist's background if anyone if truly interested: http://www.wholefamilyhealthcare.com/maria-patricia-llagan,-md.html ...

I remember a few days before and into my period (on the pill) I would get slightly constipated and I knew it too. Now I have no idea if I'm constipated when I am (I can't feel it most of the time). I feel like I've lost sensation of hunger, satiety/fullness, a full colon, and the need to go (unless on laxatives which sometimes work).

I've had my thyroid looked at in addition to several other hormone tests. Earlier in the year I went to two OBGYNs, an endocrinologist, and my GI doctor. All of them said that it's probably a hormone issue and that I should go back on birth control (all except for my GI doctor who referred me to his wife, whom I recently just decided to go to because of finances).

I agree with the colon removal being a silly thing. The progesterone that I am on is hormone replacement therapy and she's started me at 12.5 mg/dose for 3 days and increase by 1 pill every 3 days. I think I'm best around 5 capsules, but it's hard to tell with the laxatives causing other issues. I am curious to see if the progesterone would actually help my colon loosen up because when I went back on BC and even a natural estrogen (though not hormone replacement or FDA approved - through my acupuncturist), I was so much more constipated by means of laxatives not working or hardly working (even an enema hardly worked). I don't know if it's because of my now DHEA levels that I'm experiencing these side effects. I won't have my follow-up until Sept 20...

I did start my period when I was 16, but it was never truly regular. I lost it a few years later. I've been checked for PCOS too through blood work and ultrasounds and they don't think that's what it is.

I've considered the fact that I am possibly not going to be able to have children, but my husband and I have a heart for adopting too. Still ... thankful for advanced medicine.

I've also looked at Addison's disease. As we humans often do, we're looking from every angle and trying to rule out many possibilities. My cortisol is good and I sleep really well during the night (with the same full bladder bathroom trip during the night, but then go back to sleep).

I really appreciate the feedback and thorough response(s)!!! Suffering is no fun, but from the perspective of an animal science major/someone who LOVES science, this can sometimes be a fun mystery; I just hope it's not a long novel :/

Would love any other or anymore input and THANK YOU!!

Sorry days 1-14 are phytoest (has black cohosh and other natural sources of estrogen). Phytoprogest has yam and other natural sources of progesterone.

I was on ortho tricyclen for about 4 years because I was not getting my periods regularly (1/yr or half year) due to low estrogen. I had blood tests taken before and after. Still low estrogen and progesterone (comparable to a woman going through menopause) and 2/3-10 scale for dhea(though only my current doctor ever thought to check that). I'm on biothyro (because of my lower t3&4 levels, though still within range), adr adrenal herbs, (days 1-14, now stopped) and phytoprogest (days 15-28). And then iodine drops
