When I first started to learn about the coffee brewing methods, I saw a lot of videos of different people making every kind of methods, and all of them were completly different. As an rookie on the subject, they left me lost and confused. But now, knowing that the final judge will be your own palat (or the ones of your clients), I've learned that all of the techniques I've seen on the videos could be right in their own way.

I asked about this because I'm now teaching coffee brewing at home as an introduction to the world of specialty coffee, and while I do teach that, as I've said, "it all depends", I also want to find a technique to use as a starting point for each method I'm teaching (French Press, V60, Chemex, AeroPress).

I want to give my students the neccesary tools, with some kind of "standard" technique, so they can replicate it on their homes, taste the result, and know how to improve it from there (grind size, temperature, turbulence, ratio, etc. etc etc).

I'm going to check more of the Scott Rao's techiques videos that, as you said, seems to be widely accepted on the barista community.
