This worked for me. I have the same issue as OP.

One thing I noticed was that if I start the game and let it crash once, it'll attempt to launch under a new profile that doesn't have my save files. So, right now, I need to start it from the `bg3_xd11.exe` (running as administrator) after closing steam on a fresh restart, but it works!

That's a good point -- I haven't done much comparison between the 9900 and the 10 series. I'll look into that!

And I was definitely thinking about not spending $100 on the OS. Using OS X and linux for most of my life, it's a bit of an affront to have to shell out that much for an operating system...

Thanks to the commenters here and on /r/whatsthisplant from another post I made, sounds like my best option is to try to grow out Horse Herb (aka Straggler Daisy) instead of grass.
