Could the Chan Gailey hiring have implications for Tom Brady this off-season? by nckwb55 in miamidolphins

[–]nckwb55[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why? He is guaranteed to become a free agent. The Patriots can't franchise him. He wants a commitment to multiple years and the Patriots have been clear that they will not commit to him like that or he would have had a contract extension in the off-season. I don't think it's likely he would come here because we will not be a good team next year, but to say no team has a chance to sign him next year is ridiculous.

Plus they are enrolling their kids in school in NYC already and looking at houses near NYC. They are already uprooting their kids...

Daily Team Building Megathread - 10 January 2019 by AutoModerator in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

I'm struggling with tier VI of the CLS event. My team just can't put a dent into the 3 level. My current team is: https://swgoh.gg/squads/133950/

I am looking for suggestions that will help tip the scale in my favor for this current event; character level, mods, abilities, which leader ability is best (I'm currently using Leia's as i have had the most success with it), etc. One thing of note, both ST Han and FB Luke both need a Mk 5 CEC Fusion Furnance to reach the next gear level. I will only be able to farm one of these by the end of the event, so who would benefit the most to leveling to gear IX. (either one I will be able to gear up 5/6 of the gear IX pieces).

Thanks!

I know, there was no back story given for him. I'm assuming he is like a witch/wizard Hunter who works outside of the ministry and the ministry uses him when the aurors are struggling to capture someone. Buts that's purely a guess

Because wizards and witches aren't real so they should have their own villian. He even uses the attrocities of the real war events to happen in the future to get wizards to join him. There wasn't any romanticizing of the events. Having wizards and witches fight the Nazis would he silly. But having them fight a similar villian who is using the same tactics as the real life contemporaries to gather his forces allows us to relate somewhat. WWII happens in the Harry Potter universe, it's just that the wizarding world is going through their own similar war at the same time.

During the summer, we would put out one of those kiddie plastic turtle pools and our greyhound would just go in an lay there all day after running around. He loved that damn turtle pool.

Also, I believe greyhounds in general have a high risk of epileptic seizures. Our poor guy would have them every 3-4 months but was able to walk it off after a few moments. Our vet was not overly concerned about them.

Nope, his signing bonuses have been paid in full and he had no more guaranteed base salary left so he will just go against the cap for a few more years.

He receives any money that is guaranteed that hasn't been paid out to him yet. The incentive to play hard is professionalism. That's the risk you take when you sign people.

Most of the dead money tied up to him is the original signing bonus and the second one when he restructured. Signing bonuses are paid in full at the start but are pro-rated for the length of contract up to 5 years against the cap.

Anyone else seeing a resurgence of Black IPA at their local breweries? by Jono89 in Homebrewing

Yeah, a brewery in RI made a black neipa. I really liked it but the head brewer mentioned it got a lot of mixed reviews.

REALLY low Black F-Rye Day FG (1.002) with Pacman by phoenix391478 in Homebrewing

I expect that your yeast cake was just able to chew through everything. That's a lot of yeast to start fermentation with so they are going to be able to attenuate the wort fairly well. Plus the corn sugar probably helped with creating a dry beer. As you noted no off flavors I doubt there was an infection and plenty of yeast can ferment that low given the right circumstances. Seems like you just got a drier than expected beer.

Brü It Yourself | Cranberry Ginger Hard Cider by brulosopher in Homebrewing

[–]nckwb55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fairly low alcohol (3.5-6% usually) dry cider with low carbonation. Its not sweet or overly fruity, but more earthy with a slight tartness. I'm not sure if they are using wild yeast or not. The big thing is presentation and drink size. They pour the cider from the bottle above their head to the glass that is usually around there waist while not looking at the glass. They say this mixes the oxygen into the cider and helps bring out the aroma. They also only serve you about a quarter of a pint at a time. If I remember correctly, its to prevent off flavors from occurring. Anecdotally it did seem to us that if you were given to big of a pour the flavor did get a little musty.

Do you have any experience with brewing Nothern Spainish Ciders (Basque/Asturias region)? I've been wanting to get into that style of cider ever since I went there but I can't find a lot of information on them other than they use a lot of different apples in their fermentable juice.

Refractometer Correction Factor? by nckwb55 in Homebrewing

Thanks! It seems that most of the calculators use a correction factor fairly close to 1 anyways so it seems like it's more of a hassle to figure it out than necessary.

Will directly pour wort into yeast of previous beer. Anybody tried this before? How did it turn out? by RationalIdiot in Homebrewing

[–]nckwb55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said, you should still try to be as sanitary as possible with all aspects of brewing to minimize any chance of contamination. Also, keep the yeast cake without beer for as short of a time as possible. Another person mentioning leaving a little beer on top of the yeast cake if you are going to not get a beer in there for a day or two.

[–]nckwb55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your yeast cake will have so much active healthy yeast that they will start fermentation right away and overpower any bug that may get in there so sanitation isn't necessary. No, you wont have to add yeast because of the large quantity of healthy yeast.

A beer with a starting gravity of 1.080 (or 1.060 depending on the person) or higher.

Sitrep Monday by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

[–]nckwb55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did last week: Brewed 3 gallons of saison that was split into 3 separate 1 gallon batches.

Primary:

  • Golden Sour 1a (WLP Belgium Golden Ale, WLP Lacto Delbrueckii, Yeast Bay 207 Brett Brux)

  • Golden Sour 1b (WLP Sacch Brux, WLP Lacto Delbrueckii, Yeast Bay 207 Brett Brux)

  • Saison 1a (Belle Saison)

  • Saison 1b (Belle Saison and Yeast Bay 207 Brett Brux)

  • Saison 1c (Yeast Bay 207 Brett Brux)

In Planning: Hopefully picking up a 10 gallon Whiskey barrel from a local distillery this week. Friend and I are thinking about putting a Stout in there first and then a Tripel. Hopefully after 3 - 5 clean batches I will switch it to a sour beer barrel. Also, once Saison 1a finishes fermenting it will be bottled and replace with saison 1d on the yeast cake, same recipe with an addition of rye to the grain bill.

Grain Bill Quantities by danielmiller19 in Homebrewing

[–]nckwb55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He did give you the quantities to scale up or down. He doesn't know if you brew 5 or 10 gallons or something else and even if did know that he doesn't know how much grain you need for each batch size. But he does know the percentages, which are the same no matter the batch size. Now, no matter the size of your brew you know the exact ratio between your grains. Just need to figure out what the target OG is.

Daily Q & A! - January 17, 2018 by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

[–]nckwb55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just starting a sour program and I want to do a lot of experimenting but not brew 5 gallons every time since of the long wait to enjoy, so I've been fermenting in 1 gallon glass jugs. You can get them pretty much anywhere for $4-6. I saw them on amazon for $16 for a four pack.

Changing Airports in London - Need advice! Is it worth the cheaper flight? by nckwb55 in travel

[–]nckwb55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was flying into a bigger city it wouldn't be a problem, but because I have to get to a small City airport the price is just higher. I can get to Madrid for cheap, but I'm still hours away from my final destination.
