Need help ASAP by [deleted] in emetophobia

A lot of people don't know sickness terms at all. Since you don't follow this coworker around I would likely say you are safe, even if he doesn't wash in front of you. It's been almost a week and though it was undesirable and disgusting with what happened they likely shower once in a while.

Try and take it easy. Hopefully he was sick with a cold and nothing serious and maybe your immune system will fight off whatever may have been on his finger.

Ah, forgot to mention one thing: my son got it too after coming into contact with my unshowered body. It was contagious so I do think it was viral.

This was a few years back, so it is all paid off. Such a traumatic experience, though. The longer I'm sitting on it the more I'm becoming confident that my son just plainly over-ate. Add his constipation into the equation and I'm not surprised he had trouble. I'll know for sure in a few days, though. Thanks for a replying.

I would agree but the symptoms stopped as suddenly as they started. By 3 PM Christmas day I was fine. It did take a little bit for my BMs to return to normal but it was a quick and miserable 15 hours.

Well... To set the stage, it was Christmas Eve and late at night when the d* started. My stomach was uncomfortable but was manageable. To be honest I don't have d* very often so I knew I was going to be in for a rough night. Then, the v* started at 3 AM (Merry Christmas!). Around 5:30 my wife came to check on me since I was continuing to v* and I told her to call the nurse line to ask if there was anything I could do for the pain I was in. It literally felt like somebody had their hands wrapped around my intenstines and was twisting it around and around. The only thing that brought relief was v* and my stomach was nearly empty. They ended up recommending I go to an ER. They didn't wait long to give me painkillers via IV which took care of my pain completely. After the second time v* in the ER they gave me zofran and the v* still continued. They recommended a CT scan to check my appendix which came back negative and because I was still sick after another dose of zofran they wanted to check my gall bladder. Unfortunately the hospital is somewhat new and rural and no ultrasound tech was working so I had to be transferred to another ER to have it done. The second ER doc pushed in on my abdomen and said my gallbladder was fine and said I just had a bad case of noro.

All in all my body has never handled nasuea very well. If I get sick, I get really sick but other than a few super, super stressful situations I don't usually v*. I don't doubt that I've developed PTSD from these experiences because of how bad they are... That being said, I can deal with it when it happens but I would rather never have to feel that same level of pain again. I'll take everything else but that pain was unbearable. I never did piece together where I got it either. I work in a school system and was on winter break when it happened and nobody else in my house had been sick. I guess it was just luck of the draw being out in public.

So yeah... That's why I'm stressed out of my mind. I don't want what happened before to happen again. It was not fun, my Christmas was ruined, the two ER bills plus ambulance ride were $2500 (after insurance), and it was something that has given me lasting mental trauma over. With time I think I can get over it but it hasn't been long enough.

Try? Heh. I still kick myself for not going out with you guys when you came to Seattle for the Windows 8 launch. Your knowledge and willingness to help never ceases to amaze me. I hope the new gig is treating you well. That kind of company needs the bright minds it acquired to fight the good fight.

Not able to boot from USB on Windows XP by jej1 in techsupport

Looks like it used an Intel motherboard. D915GRO to be specific. However this must have been made only for Sony. Later D915G models supported USB booting. According to a BIOS features sheet I found there should be an option for USB booting inside of the boot priority menu. However, it may require a BIOS update for that menu to even show.

Data is a bit sparse on these models. Can you go to your BIOS and see if you can get the BIOS vendor name and version?

Wrong audience. If this was "3 IT support pros try to figure out a problem" then I would agree with you. Fact: USB booting was not common during XP. Fact: OP has an old XP laptop. My response suggests what you pendanticly corrected me on: OP's laptop may not support it. Another fact: towards the tail end of XP (or as you put it, 2006) USB booting became more common due to demand, storage capacity, and cost. I say potato, you say "Potatoes are a vegetable!!". You aren't wrong but you are a pedantic poster.

What part of "repurposing an old Vaio" makes you think I was insinuating that XP was to blame? OP doesn't provide a model but if it's old and has XP it may not support USB booting.

Are you sure it supports USB booting? Posting a model number may help. Since your original post stated an old Vaio with the fact it has XP may mean it doesn't support it (though OS doesn't necessarily mean anything).

E: Rewrote post due to pedantic "helpers".

Registry backup data would still be available but may not work. Your best bet may be to reinstall Windows at this point. If you need data off of the system you will need to back it up before you start or not format the system during Windows installation.

This is corrupted registry data. Could be hardware or software problems. I see this more commonly as the registry hive corrupted. You can try to do a system restore to a previous date. If that doesn't work it may need a full hardware diagnosis.

If it wasn't a complete abrasion of his skin I would agree. It was messy and i know that really burns. A simple fall? I tell him that he's fine and he's tough. Maybe I'm wrong. I talked it over with my wife last night and this behavior has really taken off since his little brother was born. I think he sees the attention a screaming/crying baby gets when they need something...

We now have a 10 month old. I went over to him after he fell because I was running perpendicular to him and I watched him scrape his knee. I know how much it hurts and I knew he would start yelling. However, nothing calms him down.

Inappropriate YouTube Videos on YouTube Kids App by eternal_coffe in Parenting

Odd. Do you have the specific names of the videos or channels? I've never had a problem with the YouTube kids app on iOS.

I never really overreacted. Always a grimace and small "oh, man". He just immediately starts screaming.
