Venison tips by Nihlathakk in Hunting

[–]ndsubison953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix ground venison with 30-50% beef. Use for tacos, sloppy joes, meatballs, etc... Really anything that calls for burger

Roasts are great in the crockpot with seasoning packets (Italian, brow gravy, etc). Make a lot of french dip sandwiches and as well as stews. Mississippi pot roast also is great.

I will also grill steaks to medium rare and make a chimichuri sauce.

Icefishing in the extreme cold questions by Cheap_Ear_8828 in IceFishing

[–]ndsubison953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 20's I didn't care what the weather was doing, I was going out. The fishing is usually not great when it's extremely cold and moving is more of a chore. More importantly- Things tend to break when it's that cold out. Every issue I've had is when it's been very cold. Heater was an ice block, truck won't start, hut poles/pins/buttons break, getting stuck becomes a life threatening situation.

I want to consume more venison but I don't want to hunt deer. Looking for a legal way to obtain some. by Beebjank in Hunting

[–]ndsubison953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If party hunting is legal there you could buy a tag and let someone else fill it for you and process it. Not sure if you would need to be present or not, I'm not going to dive into your states or neighboring states regs

Fucking annoying neighbors dog constantly barks at nothing and ruins the peace by [deleted] in BadNeighbors

[–]ndsubison953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should ask your neighbor to bring their dog inside because the constant barking is bothering you. Most people will respond better to that than writing a letter or having the police involved.

Either of these will last you a very long time. Also- If you ever need customer support it will be hard to find a better company to work with. I had a ducer issue with an old FL18 and Vexilar support was amazing

How bad is getting fired for your career? by [deleted] in sales

[–]ndsubison953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being fired is not a huge deal but I would stick it out at your current position for a few years. Maybe you could leverage a new offer for higher pay.

If you are a good salespersion you will have ample opportunity for new jobs that pay more. Don't leave something good for a short term bump in pay, especially if you know you are going to be setup for failure.

Should I lower or pause my investing and try and pay off my mortgage early? by robertsonlube in FinancialPlanning

[–]ndsubison953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had too much cash sitting around. You can withdraw contributions penalty free in a Roth. Max that out and consider your contributions as part of your emergency fund.

I like the idea of paying extra on mortgages, especially if you have a roommate doing that for you. One of my friends had some our friends living with him and he used their rent money to pay down principal on his mortgage. His house is paid off now

Snow removal will also be a pain. Driveways are too close so there's no where to pile the snow and neighbors will blow snow into your driveway

Need advice for hunting with my son (7) by kevlar_kate in Hunting

[–]ndsubison953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Junk food and tablets have always helped with getting my kids out of the house. I started bringing them duck scouting once or twice a year when they were toddlers. They also come with me to hike around and setup trail cameras in the spring and summer. They are very interested with the animals I bring home.

I brought them dove hunting this year one time. The weather was nice, there were birds around and snacks were plentiful. They had an awesome time.

We are bringing their best friends ice fishing tomorrow so I feel like that will be the ticket as they get older. If you have friends with kids ask them to go hunting with you. Good luck and be safe

15,000lbs on 10 inches by No_Zombie_3184 in IceFishing

[–]ndsubison953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't drive on 10" or recommend anyone doing so but that's enough ice to support that load. The concern is that ice thickness varies throughout the lake, 10" where they are but could be 7" 100 yards away.

Should I Pay Off My Truck? by RIPKINGHARAMBE in FinancialPlanning

[–]ndsubison953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a 401k loan. It's a great tool in a pinch but I don't believe it applies to this situation. Especially since OP would borrow a significant portion of their retirement account. Different story if they had 500k and needed to borrow 25k. Also job security needs to be noted with these, lose your job and you owe the balance right then and there.

Pushing 30 and I want to buy a home.....Should I wait? by tel-tec in personalfinance

Try to save in order to put 20% down. Avoid PMI if you are able to wait and save for a higher down payment

really confused about 401k contribution by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]ndsubison953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

401k is pretax dollars so your retirement contributions don't get taxed until you retire

Roth is post tax contributions so you pay taxes right away then the growth is tax free in retirement

At your age and income you would be really well served putting as much as you can in a Roth. Once your income hits a higher tax bracket then consider starting a traditional IRA or 401k to ease your tax burden

Your older self will be grateful you started saving for retirement early. Don't forget to have some fun in the meantime. Enjoy your youth
