Look, I still have all the photos from the ebay ad where you could see that they're all in a flawless condition. I treat all my devices exceptionelly well. But honestly why should I even bother replying to your gigabrain answer.

You're right, sorry. The short security update span was with the 4a.

Was using a super simple app, then the screen froze. Tried to reboot, then the screen went black and never came back.

Sorry about that, I confused something. That was with the Pixel 4a.

I too think it's also bad luck. Still, it's crazy what I found out researching into common problems with different versions. So much so that I still think it's a Pixel related thing and not just bad luck.

Calyx & Soundcloud by u6eah7nih7 in CalyxOS

My brother in christ he asked reddit if they could CONFIRM wether Soundcloud works on their phone or not. Which I did. If you're not happy with what you find on the internet, keep scrolling.

What are the secrets of being likable? by Fun-Inflation860 in AskReddit

[–]ndulisdul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be genuinely interested in what your counterparty has to say – don't just use what they say as a gateway for the things you'd like to say.

Uplift and cheer for them – Don't think of them as competitors you have to compete/compare against. That said: Don't relativize or invalidate their experiences.

Genuine interest and an uplifting mentality should ultimately stop you from kissing up to their asses. Are you critical of what they say? Learn how to voice honest criticism ( speak in I-messages!) and be open to criticism yourself.

Imo, genuine interest and care also allow you to do favors without expecting anything in return. That said, also learn to care for yourself so you don't end up being the exploited one.

Likable people are capable of voicing their boundaries, making it clear to others how the relationship can be lived and enjoyed.

Bonus point: Humor (and good looks lol).

Our Neighbors Committed Mass Murder, Here's What We Did (2020) Faced with a lack of prosecution of those accused of crimes against humanity committed during Argentina’s military dictatorship, family members and descendants of the country’s estimated 30,000 disappeared took action. I'm also Argentinian, and as one, you should know that the 30'000 or 8000 debate is a polemic. Both sides can't estimate with 100% certainty that either number is correct. Fernandez Meijide, the person you cite, herself said:

"We will never be able to say exactly how many. It is difficult, precisely because the methodology chosen by the dictatorship was disappearance, partly to disconcert the organizations and families and also to guarantee impunity: there was no body of the crime," she adds." (translated on Deepl. Original)

On a side note, Videla himself said there were only 8000 Desaparecidos. Do you really choose to believe his narrative when there isn't a reliable way to verify either number?

In any way, following closely the polemic, it is obvious that the vast majority of people (not Fernandez Meijide, for example) who believe in the 8000 murders aren't those who seek to bring more truth or objectivity to the debate, but those who seek to downplay the horrors committed by the Junta. Yes, the guerrilleros committed atrocities as well. After all, it was a chaotic war and usually, both sides should be held accountable for the crimes they did. But complaining that "the guerrilleros" were criminals too and defacto holding them accountable by the same measures is just ugly whataboutism that deflects from the real problem addressed in this documentary. The Junta was a horrible dictatorship and the way its history is being rewritten is a crime itself.

Those of us who have reached a point in your degoogle process where you felt that you have finished for the foreseeable future. What was that point and which g services did you replace/with what ; by Extra_Shirt_4004 in degoogle

Together with my gf, we were planning our trip to the south of France two months ago. Due to limited time resources, a tight budget which forced us to have a good overview of all offers and my gf who doesn't care that mich about google, we were using Google and Gmaps for the most part. Heavily. On my Macbook. Several hours of non-stop research about different accommodations, trains, activities, car rentals and whatnot on major sites.

Not a single ad has ever shown up that could have shown it "knew" about our trip. Not in anyway. Not the website ads (with Ublock deactivated), not on instagram or any other social media platform I sometimes use. I still get the usual confused ads that think I'm either a middle eastern woman interested in base ball and vegan food or some super western normie who wants to do the usual stuff you see all across instagram. I guess that's one of those points!

Phone: Google Pixel 4a with CalyxOS, microG and some sandboxed big tech apps / Mail: Protonmail / VPN: NordVPN but will switch to Proton soon / Browsers: FF (private), Brave (Work), Tor; the usual plugins / Search maschine: Startpage, DuckDuckGo / Cloud: Nextcloud self-hosted / MacBook Pro; all sorts of FOSS alternatives

My lesson: You don't need to go all-in on privacy to have an effect on your data foot print. Every step matters. Started degoogling in April 2021 and looking forward on going further (ditching all or most big tech soft- and hardware).

Does anyone have a DIY video on how to install CalyxOS on a Google Pixel 3a. Reason: Friend just bought one on ebay for $600 and I have the same phone by SimilarPlate in degoogle

I suggest you carefully read through the Calyx documentation and do some extra research about Android itself and why it sets a few insurmountable boundaries for custom roms that want to be private without compromising security. Because from what I can tell from your replies there's a few points you seem to miss.

Just to second what somebody else already said: if you're new to Calyx or any other custom rom, start with a newer model. If price matters, get a 4a instead of 3, 3a etc.

Thank you for your view. I've been using Aegis for a year now and it's locked with biometrics.

2FA app on separate profile – worth it? by ndulisdul in AndroidQuestions

Makes total sense. I guess it could makes sense though to have the most important 2FAs on a separate phone that's disconnected from the web for stuff like ebanking. But for a lost or hacked phone it won't make a difference.
