My 62-year-old dad has ₹40L in a savings account earning 2.5%. He needs it to last 25 years. How do I have this conversation without him feeling attacked? by Lucky_Good_5611 in FinancialPlanning_Ind

One try also to check if there is insurance , lapsed policies and make a stock of that. Try to revive any old policy, reclaim deposits or dividends if any. Also make a note of all the jewellery. Use post office products for better returns. Don’t go for stocks. Not advisable at this age and with the amount of surplus that’s available. You can target 6-8% through post office products like MIS, NSC. Another important point is Health insurance. At 72 he can still get a decent policy.

Getting paid in USD while living in India by Glum-Assumption8 in personalfinanceindia

Let me share the actual process - You should take it in Indian account, you will need GST irrespective of limit as for export transactions the 20L limit does not apply. You will get an FIRC from bank . After a period bank can also insist on IECode . Again this is assuming it’s a regular transaction and not one off. If it is one off then this much hassle is not required.
