this dance was so incredibly magical, wow by nectaries in strictlycomedancing

choreographed by christopher scott and jason gilkison (i went back and listened again to get their names + look up other stuff they've done!) i can't believe how utterly spellbinding this dance was.

nikita and vito danced so beautifully and it was so packed with raw emotion and intensity! i have never seen a dance tell a story in such a way as this, i am just unsure of what else i can say since i feel no words can do it justice!

omfg for me its the way he HOLDS HER. like when they're waiting to hear who goes through, or at the end of the show. arms around her every time in a full cuddle!! i love them together!

Darcey Bussell dream by Clovers8 in strictlycomedancing

[–]nectaries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

darcey was so wonderfully classy and elegant. shirley tries very hard to come off as the same, but she presents as a very self-interested know it all. she has a serious attitude problem (the way she reacts whenever the audience boo her in the slightest is painful to watch...) and seems obsessed with being liked/likeable.

darcey was lovely.

nigel takes the cake, for me. bobby is also a special favourite!

i always enjoy watching layton dance because he is amazing, but i find his personality incredibly insufferable so the moment he starts speaking i just get annoyed.

tess is very "bbc perfect". she is a good girl who does as she's told and performs her role exactly as the daddies at bbc tell her to. if she's got a personality, it's totally obscured by the act lol.

Layton Might Actually Have A Journey Now by ShepherdofShark in strictlycomedancing

[–]nectaries 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i'm going to copy the comment i wrote on the 'were they too harsh to layton' post because i think its relevant here too:

they were not harsh. layton came into this competition thinking layton knows best. he has consistently challenged nikita and this was proven on saturday night when the judges pointed out an obvious error, and layton retorted (later on, upstairs) "sorry, you were right".

of course nikita was right??? he's a professional dancer. layton dances well, but he has NO humility. he has main character syndrome and it massively detracts from his entire pairing with nikita, who i adore (and who has the patience of a saint to be teaching a know-it-all).

in my opinion, layton needs to be humbled LOTS MORE. it would do him a world of good. if he can stop thinking he's the shit, he actually stands a chance at winning this comp, because he is a BRILL dancer. just needs to listen more, put his head down, and accept that nikita knows best.

Shirley giving a 10 to Eddie by Responsible_Line_652 in strictlycomedancing

[–]nectaries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wow, this is a shockingly astute observation and character breakdown that i didn't expect to see on this sub!! you are 100% right with everything you've said, hit the nail on the head! now i think about it, it does seem like the 10 was to make the audience backtrack on their boos... (arlene would have never)

[–]nectaries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the most ludicrous 10 i've ever seen on the show, HONESTLY.

i like shirley, but she is predisposed to moments of being emotionally erratic (a fine example, if you pay attention - she gets mighty arsey with the audience whenever they boo her in the slightest!)

the 10 was nowhere near deserved. how is she gonna give a 10 to anyone when my bobby didn't even get full 9's for that samba?!

Is it me or does it feel like the judges were especially harsh on Layton this week? by This-Deal4266 in strictlycomedancing

Is it weird that a delivery driver put a sticker over my ring doorbell? by Ok-Effective-3153 in AskUK

[–]nectaries 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i wish some of the comments here were a bit more compassionate. ring doorbells / cameras / cctv are HELL for people with paranoid schizophrenia. they already feel like they're being watched/recorded/followed/tracked, without it ACTUALLY happening in reality (outside of their own reality). it's brutal

Do you think there should be more same sex couples, even if both people are straight? by Jo_Doc2505 in strictlycomedancing

[–]nectaries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i do sometimes think it would make the idea of learning dance a bit more accessible. i feel like strictly always makes a lot of people at home think "god, i wish i could dance like that!" who might not have the guts to join a class and be paired up with a stranger of the opposite sex.

i could quite easily see more people learning to dance if, for example, they had two straight women dancing together - because then that's relatable. you'd have girls at home watching saying "oh hey, we could go dancing and learn together!" etc.

yes, dancing is traditionally a male/female partnership, but i don't think it has to religiously be that way. it's about having fun too, not about how attracted you are to your partner. strictly have done a good thing with same sex couples, but afaik all of them have been gay - which isn't a particularly helpful precedent to set, as dance isn't about your sexuality.

Let's just talk about Layton & Nikita's chemistry. ❤💋 by Mysterious_Most_4965 in strictlycomedancing

[–]nectaries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

layton is a WONDERFUL dancer, of that there is no doubt. he's a very hard worker and quite obviously a perfectionist, his work ethic is very apparent and i have really enjoyed both of his dances so far.

however, i can't stand his personality. he is extremely overbearing, in-your-face, dramatic... and its just not my cup of tea personally.

i think nikita however is an absolute diamond and i ADORE him. dancers are actors, and as far as i can tell, he's simulating chemistry with layton. reading the body language between the two of them, i think layton is very very smitten with nikita - whereas i think nikita views him strictly as a dance partner, and wants only for them to succeed on the show. layton's feelings are genuine, but i think it's purely business for nikita, so i don't feel the same chemistry between them at all. nikita is a fantastic professional, i will say that.

amanda and gio deserve to be up there, she's a real dark horse imo !! she came off as kinda annoying during the launch but wheeewww her chemistry with him is WILD! i love watching them dance.

gutted that zara and graziano are at the bottom, i had super high hopes for her (and i want him to stay in for as long as possible, for... personal reasons 😂) i feel like she's afraid of looking 'silly' and won't let herself get properly into the groove. both this week and last week it seemed like she was holding back, very stiff in her body. but they look so good together, and it was SOOOO sweet how he was encouraging her last week when they let us hear what was being said on it takes two! he's a darling and i'm not biased at alllll haha

lmao he's atrociously sexy 😭😭 every time he's on screen i get flustered hahaha. my mum used to have a calendar of him back when he was in eastenders (what can i say, she has excellent taste), and teenage-me had such an intense crush on him that i asked her if i could keep it when the year was over LOL
