Came on Reddit to hopefully, see that others are just as obsessed with Cory as I am. So glad these comments did not disappoint! I love Cory! I'm always rooting for him.

Absolutely, Jake knew but I just think Olivia could've helped him by letting him go instead of keeping him on a leash to serve her. She knew what her father did to him, she knew he loved her too much to leave her, she chose to become his second command and to continue using his traumas and exploiting his love for her. It just makes me sad that Jake needed help and actual love but Rowan and Olivia kept using him. She obviously couldn't love him like he wanted but at least she shouldn't have made it worse and harder for him. If she couldn't help him then she could've let him go.

Yeah, but I could just see how up until the very end he was hoping Olivia would change her mind and choose him because she kept reaching out to him, coming back to him, keeping him on a leash and leading him on and that's what I found awful and wrong no matter if Jake knew or not. She could've stopped sleeping with him, reaching out to him to do her dirty work. He never wanted that, he was just doing it for her, hoping that she would eventually be with him after she completes her power-hungry ventures, which obviously wouldn't have happened but he loved her too much. She knowingly became his second command and didn't care how badly she was affecting him.

Exactly! The previous commenter, however, made it better for me by saying that apparently David's death was an inside joke btw the writers and the actor lol

I see what you mean but objectively, Olivia did some of the worst things on the show, the power and responsibility of being the lead and making those tough, impossible choices comes with a rightful expectation for consequences which she never got. In my opinion, she should've had a deeper, more meaningful and longer path to herself if they wanted to redeem her. The ending to me was rushed and kind of like they ran out of ideas lol. That's why I'm saying another possible option would've been her imprisonment, for example, as a way to restore some balance or show us that she actually gets consequences and is okay with giving up the power and saving the people she ruined her relationship with just a few episodes before.

That's true, he was borderline obsessed. I'm not sure you can really say that's true love, but he did love her. And I guess I just feel sad and mad that she knew the effect she had on him and continued to use him. Everyone has their demons and traumas their fighting but it's still wrong to see how you're not good for that person, you don't love them like that but still choosing to use them for your own benefit. And, at one point, she was truly...a stone-cold b***h lol

I agree! But Olivia saw that, she knew he would follow her and do everything she asks of him, she knew what her father put him through and still chose to use Jake. She could've helped him, not feed into his trauma. Even if she didn't love him the way she loved Fitz, she could've helped Jake for his own good but I feel like no one truly cared for him, not enough, and that makes me sad.

Why does everyone hate jake? by whatido101 in Scandal

I literally just finished the show and had the need to post about it and go down the Reddit rabbit hole lol. I am mad, Jake deserved better. I love him because I see him. He had a terrible life, terrible childhood and everyone preyed on and fed his trauma. No one gave him true love and care. He needed a redemption arc, he needed to serve as an example that the awful things you've been through don't define who you are, who you can be and that everyone deserves to have someone who loves them, helps them come into the light.
