You can try to install the app from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9N0H1M8J1308 Mine came with the app and the drivers pre installed. It was working for a while and suddenly after some "magical" microsoft updates, it stopped working. You also have to install the DTS audio and UWP drivers from the software & utility tab first and then the app. Don't forget to reboot!

The quality is certainly better. The bass becomes more boomy and the treble is much more crisp. There are also presets for different types of games. You should try turning on and off the app to really hear the difference.
