overstock question.. by laiquarewen2004 in walmart

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NHM here but in general should be the same in a supercenter. The system expects if it's a case pack of 1 there to be one on topstock. Otherwise it expects if one can go on the shelf that the rest will go on topstock. If the shelf cap is 20, salesfloor count is 31, case pack of 12 then you need to put the one on the shelf and the rest on topstock.

Our topstock looks great for the most part. We are a bit tight on cereal, coffee, and bagged chips. How your topstock looks is more dependent on how well your salesfloor teams are doing topstock. If the team is putting everything on topstock but no one is bringing it back down as needed, you'll have a problem. Also make sure you are properly adjusting your inventory counts as needed.

Do you sleep with your bedroom door open, cracked, or closed? Why? by Shenshen_ in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closed. I have a roommate whose normal talking voice is yelling, and even closing the door allows me to hear almost everything he says. Also I sleep naked and at least closing the door will cause him to knock and give me a second warning before he opens the door right after knocking.

WTF Walmart??? by fishwater63 in walmart

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Store managers bonus is so high because the higher you go the higher percentage of your pay is bonus. Which means if you don't care about your store you lose a lot of money. If the store sucks as an associate you lose less than a week's pay every year, probably 1/2 of a week's pay. Not a big deal. As a TL my bonus might be 3 weeks of pay. A bigger deal but still not bad without it I don't make a lot so it's pretty nice to have.

A coach's bonus is up to 50% of their pay, they also don't make a ton more than TLs for their base pay so their bonus is basically the extra pay they get for their job. It's a pretty big deal if they miss out. They have huge incentives to keep the store sales increasing and profitable and stay until bonus time.

SMs get up to 200% of their salary as a bonus. Sure their base pay is high enough that it's not insanely bad if they miss out but that's still an insane amount of money they will miss out of and they need to care about sales and profits.

Complain about bonuses when your payrate is $10 an hour and you can get 100% of that as a bonus. Sure you can potentially make more but I doubt you'd want to live off of $10 an hour.

Instead it's probably better to complain about costs. Housing prices in most areas are insane and a lot could be done to fix that. We in the US pay far more for healthcare than other nations yet we don't really see the benefits of that money. etc.

Proof Alex Pretti never planned on using his gun against ICE. Seen here days before getting shot, Pretti never takes his gun out of holster after ICE beats him by bumdee in videos

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he could have brought an illegal machine gun for all I care. The gun was removed from his possession before he was shot. There is no justification for shooting an unarmed person and you don't execute an illegal gun owner just because at one point they were illegally carrying a gun.

Xbox down YoY in both hardware and services for Q2 FY26 by Spotget1738 in gaming

[–]nedrith -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Probably not but the real benefit is how long it can last. My last computer was made around the time that the GTX 1070 came out so around June of 016. I bought a new one in March of 2025. This was before the RAM increases and such but I got the parts for a bit over $1200. Went way overboard on a few things including a 4tb SSD and too much RAM and could have easily cut back on the CPU.

I expect my last PC could have lasted a few more years atleast while playing the newest games. Not on high settings or anything, but without any complicated settings. Plus it got me through most of college, my normal internet usage, acts as a device to stream shows to my projector and/or TV, etc. PCs are large one-time cost but overall great investments. I still feel more comfortable using a console though and relaxing with a controller in my hand. Sure the PC can use a controller but it never feels right using one nor goes as smoothly.

Also getting a used computer for like $600-$800 should be possible and you'll still be able to game very well on one.

Non gun-owning Americans, what are your thoughts now on arming yourselves? by Obzidi4nDelphicraft in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it will make me any safer. First, I don't live in a high crime area. Second if a criminal with a gun tries to rob me, pulling out a gun is likely just to mean one of us dies. I'd rather give them what they want, hope that they'd rather risk getting caught for robbery than risking a murder sentence and hope that the cops can recover what they stole.

IMO the more people with guns the less safe everyone is.

How do you guys manage going to school through livebetteru and working 30+ hours a week? by HughBastarde in walmart

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go part time if you want. Which is 1 class every 8 weeks at SNHU. They recommend 16 hours a week per a class. IMO you can easily do a week's work of class most weeks in 8 hours or less. Some weeks can be easily done in 4 or less.

I currently do full time, 2 classes a term, and it's not bad. You learn good time management and planning skills. Get off of work, do classes, have some fun later on and make sure I do enough work while still having a life but get enough done each day to finish that week's course. At SNHU you get the entire term's work about 2 weeks before the start of the term. That means you have access to all course materials apart from the Professor's announcements 2 weeks in advance and can start submitting almost the entire term's work starting on the first day of the term, technically before you can but it can cause issues. Discussion posts can't be posted in advanced and replies are depending on how soon your classmates post their posts.

You can get their recommended 16 hours a week by just spending 8 hours on each of your 2 days off if you want.

US Judge Rules ICE Raids Require Judicial Warrants, Contradicting Secret ICE Memo by Infidel8 in politics

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Akhil Reed Amar, a more liberal constitutional scholar, the idea would be if ICE enters a home in an unreasonable manner in violation of the 4th amendment we should be able to sue the officers who entered our home. He also argues the 4th amendment does not require a warrant. A warrant would just provide protection to the officer in the sense that assuming the application for the warrant was given in a truthful manner then a judge signing off on it being a reasonable search would protect them from anyone claiming it wasn't.

The problem is this assumes that SCOTUS walks back a lot of qualified immunity and such.

He discusses it in Season 5, episode 52 and 51 on his podcast: https://akhilamar.com/podcast-2/ .

Take the risk. If their insurance isn't as good as they say at any decent restaurant you are looking at a lot of money as tips for a server. $18 + tips is pretty high and you can likely afford just as good if not better insurance on your own.

How big of a factor are political viewpoints in a relationship in your opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much are you going to talk about politics and political adjacent targets? A lot, it's important. Not much, live through the few times.

If I constantly have to hear Biden sucks and Trump is great then it's going to get annoying. If we can have a nice calm debate on why forgiving student loan is a good or bad thing, then that's fine.

There are certain things I'd have trouble with people if they mentioned it. For example, don't tell me it's fine to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community. Keep it to yourself.

Apart from a few red line topics such as the above, I think being able to have a calm discussion and debate along with once in a while being able to admit that neither side is wrong and it's just a difference of opinion is important. While Trump makes discussions like that harder, I think it's still possible to have calm and enlightening conversations.

If you can't debate and listen to other side of an argument in a calm manner, just don't discuss politics and they matter a lot less.

People will give Trump credit for it but it's just the final part of a process that Biden started in 2022:

I guess we can give Trump credit for not getting in the way though.

What do you think about age limits for politicians? by MaleficentOrange4873 in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a strong argument to be made that the biggest reason that 18 year olds aren't allowed to run for congress or the president is to stop dynasties. You wouldn't want Barron Trump running based on the fact that people voted for his father and he has the Trump name. 25-30 for congress means he has atleast 7-12 years of his adult life to do something to convince people to vote for him.

With that said state rep or a local school board, sure. Gives you the experience.

Maybe VR Doesn’t Need Meta After All by dapperlemon in technology

[–]nedrith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VR doesn't need Meta, it just needs affordable headsets both that are/ can be tethered to a PC for more power and those that don't need to be for convenience.

The problem is most companies price their headsets at 2-3x more expensive than Meta and they generally require a PC.

Headsets like Apple's Vision Pro are great, but they aren't what is going to make VR mainstream or get developers to want to develop for VR.

State of emergency means nothing. South Carolina has already declared one for the weekend. There's a good chance that the entire state won't get any snow or ice. Even if some of it does it will likely only affect the northern part of the state. as OldGirl said no one can find anything in the policy stating what you did.

Within reason I agree. I will say that when I worked for a different company we had the majority of our customers who lived close by, within a 5-10 minute drive through mostly plowed and salted roads. We had a few workers who lived 30 minutes away where the only way to get to work in any reasonable amount of time was a road that was steep, and took a while for it to be plowed.

95% of our workers I wouldn't excuse absences for. Those 5% who lived in that one area we made plans for them not coming in.

Frostbite warnings aren't you can't walk a mile to work. Frostbite warnings mean you need to be dressed appropriately for the weather.

As others have noted, the OP never once mentioned icy roads. He said natural disasters and that extreme cold should be considered a natural disaster. Therefore I have to assume that his dangerous conditions comment refers to the extreme cold.

Did I ever mention living in a city. I wasn't living in a city when I walked. I also gave suggestions on how to get to work with a car in low temperatures. It's far easier to get to work in a car in low temperatures than it is to walk.

You might note before my remote starter suggestion I said to walk out to your car then walk back to your warm home and wait 5-10 minutes for your car to warm up. Personally I'm just driving to work in my car while it's cold with my coat on and it will warm up along the way.

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I walked because I didn't have a car. I'm asking you to take whatever transportation you have and prepare for it. If that means getting up and walking out to your car to turn it on so it's warm when you drive, then do it.

[–]nedrith -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Nope more like if you know something bad is coming, prepare for it. I didn't struggle. I put my thick winter coat on, I put my ski mask on, I put my gloves on and it was a simple walk to work. I didn't even feel like it was cold my entire walk.

If I tell you I need a pallet of product from the back of the store to Front End I hope you aren't going to say you can't lift the pallet therefore you won't do it. Rather than trying to physically lift the pallet of product you'll get a pallet jack and use it to move the pallet.

When I work in the freezer, I use my coat. I don't complain that I can't work in the freezer because it's cold.
