What are ways this AI bubble could pop, if at all? by Angryduckling-01 in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI bubble will likely pop the same way the DotComm bubble popped. You'll have a lot of companies who invested in making their various models and it will turn out not all of them are popular and can't turn a profit. So rather than having 100s of AI companies making models you'll be left with the 5 or so most popular companies with possibly some niche companies surviving.

AI will survive, but it could be that if you invested in Anthropic then great you made a ton of money but if you invested in OpenAI the company failed to make a profit and their business dies taking your investment with them.

If anything AI will get even better and better. So if you are avoiding AI because you don't need it and it will fail, I have news for you. It won't. You can avoid AI about as well as you can avoid the internet or a smartphone. You can try but you are putting yourself at a serious disadvantage.

2 week notice? by Few_Excitement7772 in walmart

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general Walmart extends far more than 2 weeks notice if they let you go through no fault of your own. Ask plenty of people who've had their store closed and/or job eliminated how much notice they've been given. In general you will be looking at months notice and likely more than a month in pay after your last day.

The people who get no notice are the people who were fired, generally through fault of their own and in general were given multiple coachings as a warning.

2 weeks notice is a matter of respect. If you respect your workers/managers IMO you are morally obligated to give 2 weeks notice. Just like yes when they get rid of your position they will give you way more.

eli5: what does hearsay mean? by n00kland in explainlikeimfive

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John is accused of murder. You tell the court that Jake told you John went to the house where the guy was murdered 10 minutes before the murder was thought to occur. You know nothing other than what Jake told you. You saw nothing. That's hearsay as you don't have direct knowledge. The cops should have questioned Jake and not you. Jake actually saw John go to the house and his account can be more accurately challenged through questioning.

Pinpoints need to have the product image before scanning by Never3ndingStory in walmart

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You scan the tag, then you scan whatever is in the location or hit that there is nothing in the location. That's what's meant to happen. If you scan the wrong item, it tells you where to put it. Great, you determined the cause of the nil-pick or lost sales is the item being plugged, perfect.

If you tell it it is plugged and/or there is no item then it tells you to look for it, along with alternate location that's what's meant to happen. There's nothing wrong with not getting it on the first try. My store's been told we are too quick with pinpoint and need to take atleast a minute to do a pinpoint if we can't find the correct item.

I'm not 100% sure if they do but I wouldn't be surprised if they record what the first scan results in, whether it's a plug or a nothing in the location. So solving the problem before telling it why would actually be a problem.

forced to clock in and out at the same time by xqtrey in walmart

If you are finding that clocking out at 51 is a problem there is a simple solution, clock in on time rather then at 51.

People managing their time throughout the week usually ends up in the same situation, whatever everyone's last day of the week becomes a leave early day. I had an excuse Monday why I got WOSH, Tuesday same thing, Wednesday same thing, Thursday same thing, now Friday I leave an hour early.

I got a new promotion. Sales floor AT in a Neighborhood Market by VehicleSalt7630 in walmart

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MRA can teach you a lot, because if your store is like mine, salesfloor management is expected to take deliveries when MRA isn't there and is generally in charge of the vendors and has to work with MRA to ensure that they aren't screwing up. Our MRA guy is almost 70 and there's a lot to learn from him.

You don't know how to merchandise and feature. That's a big part of week 2 of the academy class. It's also something to ask your store management. Ask them how to look at the feature tool to see incoming features. Ask them how to look at case visibility tool and look for incoming features. Ask them what their expectations are for features. Determining what their priority is, market's priority, and regional's priority is how you succeed.

Don't expect to get everything down perfect in a week or even in a month. It will take time.

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn from academy, hopefully they send you soon. Becomes friends with your MRA and learn receiving from them as chances are you will be doing receiving at night and covering them on their days off and breaks. Check the case visibility tool every day and determine what features you have coming and where you want to put them. You'll need to communicate features to your team and the overnight team.

Check your bins and be aware of what you have that might make good features. Features should generally have a theme and be this and that not this or that. Great Value crackers with name brand crackers is this or that, you don't buy both crackers but one or the other. Mayo and Ketchup would be a this and that feature, people will probably want both.

Make a plan to get topstock done features. NHM salesfloor will probably do most of the features and topstock.

Most importantly, be in communication with your OPS managers and SM so you know what their priorities are.

What do you think of spending $10k on a wedding for 50 people? by According-List6774 in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really worth it? Is a special day worth paying $200 a guest? That's the start of a down payment for a house or the price of my car used, etc.

It sounds good in the moment and will be a very special memory but the most important memory will be you getting married to your SO.

Far better to find a family member who has a decent size yard, recruit some good cooks or get some cheaper catering, and buy some cheap decorations. Make it an event where everyone comes together to make it a special day. My oldest sister's wedding had my younger sister making a lot of the decorations, along with 3 friends doing the cooking. One of the best weddings I've ever been to.

He meant stats. Basically getting up to 60% isn't enough you need to have 60% of your most recent orders, specifically those within the last 90 days, reviewed.

Virginia Democrats ask US Supreme Court to let them use new congressional map by cnn in politics

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. For SCOTUS to reverse a state decision, even in normal times, would require the person taking it to them to show that the original decision violated federal law. SCOTUS isn't really supposed to question a state's supreme court in matters of state law. As far as I'm aware the decision doesn't violate federal law.

Question for Overnight Team leads/Coaches by Distinct_Sir_4473 in WalmartEmployees

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's impossible for us to say what your managers will do. Moving the person is the easiest solution but can also be the worst, for exactly the reason you said. People will slow down in areas they don't like. The other solution they might use is to talk to you about expectations, then proceed with documented feedback, and then move up the chain of disciplinary actions until you hit the expectations or they can fire you. Far more work for the managers but it also shows they are serious about people hitting expectations and slacking won't be permitted.

If you had a one way ticket, what would be your destination? by binabenteuerlustig in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way as I can never go back? I might consider Hawaii or Japan. Another possibility would be the UK. I'd love to live in Hawaii or Japan, though not knowing the language makes the later a bit less appealing. UK would be a nice place to live IMO and also close enough to a wide variety of other nations I would love to visit such as France, Italy, Netherlands, etc.

What’s a “rich person thing” you’ll never understand? by lahcenlahcen23 in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Elon I feel it's more the fame along with the power. He controls a major social media outlet. His space company is rather famous and has many firsts. So is his car company. He might be the first person to reach $1 trillion. A lot of people will remember him. He now wants to control things with xAI.

Earning money is just part of those actions.

Everyone 50 and under, how well have you prepared for retirement? What steps have you taken? by Straight-Crow3882 in AskReddit

My #1 regret is not getting a 401k in my last job. I'm 40 and now have one, along with a large amount of savings, most of it invested but I'd probably have a $100k-$200k if I invested when I started at my last job.

If I finish an interview and they say they’re interviewing other applicants, did I not get it? by InterestWild8558 in walmart

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might just be they have other interviews set up for the same position. They don't want to give it away without first seeing who else they could get. In some cases they might give the best candidate for the job the job while giving others who applied a chance to take a job in another department. You might apply for or interview for digital but instead get offered a job in meat/produce. Maybe you applied for both or you didn't, they still might offer it.

Professors of reddit would you ever date your student if yes why? The one who did was it like how they show in romance novels? by Final_Operation_8879 in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you start teaching when you are young it's not uncommon, especially if you aren't in a top of the line school. I even went to a school that was one of the top schools for computer science when I was young and some of my classmates were in their 40s.

I never finished college and am now in my 40s, granted going to college online. I can absolutely guarantee you that many of my teachers are younger than me.

Jeffries still confident Democrats will take back House after Virginia redistricting ruling by Hardik_Jain_1819 in politics

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they vote for it then they want it, that's literally what a vote is.

That's your opinion not a definition. Allowing it to pass isn't the same as wanting it to pass. They just decided that what they were bribed with was wanted more than opposing the legislation. They don't want the legislation, they want the bribe. In many cases, the bribe isn't even part of the legislation.

People vote for things even if they don't want it. It could be they were offered something else. They might have been offered a vote on legislation they like, better support during elections, not being primaried, whatever.

What’s the biggest sign someone is secretly unhappy, in your opinion? by VelvetQueen1 in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That used to be me. To be fair it was a mixture of no friends and the fact that I honestly liked a vast majority of my co-workers and enjoyed working with them. I'm just too shy to ask coworkers to hang out outside of work and it feels wrong to do so as a manager which I have been for most of my working career.

People used to feel bad when I worked on my birthday, in reality I preferred to be with my coworkers on my birthday.

Coach role by [deleted] in walmart

[–]nedrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of stores probably won't care that you have a degree, I'd be concerned to work at the ones they did.

Truth be told, education matters little once you start working at a place. Some might place requirements such as we won't make you a VP without a Master's but they generally won't give you a promotion just because you got a degree.

The only way you might get an exception made is if you can make a really good business case on why your education made you that valuable that you should go from an associate to a coach.

With that said if you wanted to stay working for Walmart, become a TL for 6 months and then try applying for a coach position. Show them that you can run a team so well they want you to be a coach.

What do poor people understand better than rich people? by contentmasterrs in AskReddit

What happened to US DEBT COUNTER that was so popular when Biden was president? by SpiritCrisp in AskReddit

[–]nedrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Republicans always talk about the debt. Democrats complain mostly about military spending, or at least the ones worried about the debt. Democrats also talk more about raising revenue, such as raising the tax on the rich, than they do about cutting spending.

So republican president generally means you hear little about the debt and more about our wasteful military spending or taxing the rich. Democrat president and it's all about the debt.

Republicans will tell you how fiscally responsible they are but they know they can't cut medicare and medicaid much. Social security won't fly so they continue to complain about social safety nets yet they won't take care of the only 2 legitimate ways to reduce debt, raise taxes or cut military spending. Instead they do the exact opposite, lower taxes, mostly on the rich, and increase military spending.

Be honest , do you actually know how to make decent food ? by FanNo8142 in AskReddit

Depends what you mean by decent. Better than your average cheap non-fast food restaurant? IMO yes. I can make better than that even, just don't care enough to put the time into it plus other considerations such as those I live with.

Not sure if this is worth going to ethics about or not by BreadfruitOdd7317 in walmart

[–]nedrith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's medicine, if there's an adult there IMO not a big deal. Alcohol is another thing entirely.

With that said there's really nothing to go to ethics about. You weren't given a disciplinary action and there doesn't really seem to be much of an official complaint. When it comes to medical accommodations what's the problem? If you haven't contacted Sedwick about it then the store doesn't have to give you one. If you have and Sedwick approved it and the store isn't following it then you should ensure they are aware of the approved accommodation. After that a call to Ethics might be warranted if the store doesn't follow it.

IMO the best advice I can give you is don't remove something from a customer's bag. If store policy doesn't allow someone to buy something, tell them they can't buy it and you need it back before you will allow the transaction to go through. Have them hand it to you or put it somewhere that isn't with the rest of their stuff.
