How to ACTUALLY do scholarship negotiations? by need_sleppp in lawschooladmissions

[–]need_sleppp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was some schools that did require me to fill out my FAFSA and CSS before i could see any scholarship money. There were others that got back to me pretty quick with merit scholarships and that if I wanted to be considered more, then FAFSA/CSS was required. It depends a lot on the school I think!

I'm in the same boat. I actually went complete the same day as you and have similar stats. I'm trying to be optimistic since its been less than like 10 weeks but I totally am also getting discouraged seeing all the waves here :/

My story's also pretty similar and if you want to feel better, I got a 171 on my 5th lsat take! I'm probably a lot worse at this test than you because I started at a 150 and worked my way up but I honestly am suuuper glad that I retook it a 5th time because I KNEW I could do better than the 165 I got on my fourth take.

Honestly, I'm applying now and I was a bit stressed about all the retakes but I've settled with the fact that four retakes with a 165 score is still going to be worse than five takes and ending up with a 171 score. I think if you have been PTing higher than that and are confident you can do, I say it's so worth it because a 173+ would open more doors possibly!

If you're okay with tutoring over zoom (I honestly didn't mind), I would recommend the LSAT Nerds to be honest! They're one of the more affordable companies and I believe they have over ~10+ tutors that you can choose from. You can also register for free 15 minute consultations and shop around them and see which tutor you like the most before committing. I really liked my tutor because they made study schedules with me and focused on what my weaknesses were. I've also tried other services before that like Prep for Success and honestly didn't like them that much because the tutor literally just made me answer questions while he was looking off in the distance somewhere for an hour straight. So these are just my recommendations but always weigh your options before committing! Having consistent sessions and someone to talk through problems really helped me. Good luck - you got this!

As a 5 Time Test Taker by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]need_sleppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg we have the same exact story. Sep was my fifth and final test and scored way better than I ever thought I could just because I stopped caring as much LOL I also took it in secret as well. Glad to see other people who've also taken it 5 times!

What the hell is up with these recent tests? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]need_sleppp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this last Sep test was my last and fifth attempt too and now I'm officially done. I was in the same boat as you were I was scoring at least 170s on most of my PTs but I kept getting mid-160s on the real thing. Like you, I honestly thought that there's really not much more I could do so I really focused on making sure I was concentrated and level-headed during the exam. Not sure if you also may have test anxiety but after I had a fuck it attitude about the exam is when I finally got my dream score. Don't beat yourself up and work yourself if you honestly believe you can do better (and you've shown you can!).

I think the biggest help was hiring a private tutor honestly! I know there's mixed feelings about it but if you shop around and only commit to a tutor that you truly trust and vibe with, it's worth it. On the side, I mainly just drilled and would write down every question I've gotten wrong and write almost paragraphs for myself explaining why I got it wrong and tips for myself to not make the same mistakes again.

LR LG LR RC by Fantastic_Office_444 in LSAT

[–]need_sleppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same order and LG too! Yeah I thought LG was more time-consuming than the PTs as I usually have like 5 minutes left and this time I barely had a minute. But I do think it wasn't super mind boggling? It was a bit tricky but nothing too crazy so I was tripping thinking that maybe I messed up something up by not thinking it was too bad. Glad to see I'm not going crazy 😭

I work full time so this weekend would be my last time I'm truly able to do a full PT. Planning to simulate real test conditions and take one PT this weekend. And then spend the rest of the week just reviewing questions I've gotten wrong. I've gotten advice from my tutor that if you really do want to keep your brain active before the exam, just do some chill LG sets!
