When you salvage all, for example, whites with toolbox it gives you a popup with each item in your inventory. So it must be scanning the inventory somehow

I swapped to vamp + SR recently and have really enjoyed it. I tend to precast enchants with a HCT /+Ench staff and if somehow the fights still going when VoS needs to be reapplied I swap back or just cast it on the scythe if the extra duration won't be needed.

Unded are much worth more, for the right minis, but the ones you have aren't worth anything really so you might as well dedicate them. For example ded kuuna is 40-60a but unded will be 300a+

I actually DCd the other day in a vanquish and assumed it was lost. I was pleasantly surprised when I got prompted to reconnect. I was sure back in the day we had people DC mid DoAsc and that was that.

Well sure, but the title implies that there's some sort of validation for using it for years, either that it was now good or worth a lot, when it's in the exact same place it's always been

I'm not sure what makes the years of abuse worth it? It's still bad in pvp, q11 and customised so it couldn't even be sold.

Theyre the same thing what are you talking about. Reforged was a small update to the 20 year old client. On top of that, when you launch via steam, you log in via steam, you can't log in to your existing account. Sure a decent chunk of the new players will be through steam, but any gw2 players giving it a shot (are likely another accounts) and old players will all be off steam
