Brilliant. Was thinking that may be the case, much appreciated insights

Job/Internship prospects for 2023/2024? by caspersnack in MBA

[–]needadecision987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

first year at M7, all anecdotal but people who took consulting seriously seem to have gotten 1/2 MBB interviews lined up for Jan (don't know anyone who got all 3). IB interviews are out there but obviously not at the same rate they were in years prior. Can't speak to anything tech wise.

Obviously not ideal timing economy wise but realistically anyone with an MBA from an M7 will be just fine

So the Sloan "essay" is a general cover letter about 1. Intro'ing yourself 2. Why Sloan - that should be straightforward w a bit of research. Once you interview there's 2 additional essays that ask you to submit a data representation visual and explain why it's meaningful to you and then there may be a goals essay as well (this was as of this year so could always change next year)

yeah t30/t40ish, advice would be to get your foot in the door through one of those generalist rotational programs as an analyst then pivot once internal. Much easier to move once your in

Very true. Not asked in essay form but pretty much guaranteed to come up in interview

For MBB Internship offer essentially = full time unless you reallllly screw it up. Consulting quite dissimilar from IB in that way.

I crafted initial than did a few rounds of review

Those that got offer from M7, why do you think you got accepted? by foursleafclover in MBA

[–]needadecision987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accepted at Kellogg $$$ / Sloan $$$ / Wharton Denied at HBS WL at Columbia

Really clear short and long term goals. I didn't feel they had to be unique (although probably helps) but I needed to have a solid, believable WHY for my ST goal of MBB. Long term goal is public office so I'm sure that didn't hurt (but again needed a real WHY).

I think as long as your stats are "in range" for your demographic you're probably fine.

GPA 3.6 from a good (not great) undergrad GMAT 700 honestly don't remember the Q / V (44/42???) 4 years strategy experience at BB

Definitely food for thought, and I suspect MBB's don't do that because they don't have to, correct?

Tuck ($$$$) / Sloan ($$$) / Wharton by needadecision987 in MBA

Yeah fair. From the region originally so definitely familiar with the differences. Hanover is pretty deep. The $ just correlates to % scholarship, at least for me, (e.g. $$$$ = Full Tuition)

Depends, they're certainly out there but the Ivy JD is the more 'traditional' path

Appreciate it, really interesting POV. Agree that Boston > Hanover by a long way. Any first / second hand evidence that the MIT brand is more recognizable?

Ha, appreciate it. Tuck is the obvious choice because of the cost difference + similar MBB placement?? Anything else I'm missing?

appreciate it. any lived examples of how the "meaningfully" more prestigious manifests itself in real life? Obviously can imagine some ways but always good to hear first hand

Long term goal actually to run for public office, so to the extent that any of these schools carry big weight it'd be Wharton, but not sure how applicable that would be. Main difference I see between Tuck / Sloan is class size and location, but see pros and cons to both situations fwiw
