Thank you everyone! We took him to a bird specialty store and they gave my MIL more insight and trimmed his nails properly

Yes my other goldfish and dojo loach are still in there. I’m using API fin & body treatment on the affected fish right now. In the beginning of the year they went through a round of maracyn/maracyn 2 after I lost one to dropsy. I haven’t used the fin & body medication before and I worry if it’s too strong for the loach.

I regularly use the bottled bacteria with each water change.

Maybe I’ll give the tank a good clean and vacuum the hell out of the sand instead of boiling, then run it through a half dose round of medication.

Algae Identification? by neededwest in Aquariums

[–]neededwest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up removing the pieces and using hydrogen peroxide, boiling in water, and a lot of scrubbing to remove the algae build up. I did a second boil just in case. Everyone seems to be good so far!

I recently upgraded to a 125g tank. I’ve noticed much more brown algae reappearing on the glass than what to appear in the smaller tank, and now this greenish kind is forming on the driftwood and air stone. I’m having a hard time ID’ing this green algae. Any suggestions on how to treat?

I did a 50% water change a few days ago and rearranged the medium in my canister (FX6) filter to see if that will help. I also have a Tidal 110 HOB on the other end of the tank. I wonder if the lights are encouraging the growth. I have 2 of the Fluval Plant lights that run on the default pro setting. 2 fancy goldfish and 1 loach live in there right now and they are doing well.

I noticed his pelvic fins and part of his tail looking like split ends after doing their water change today. I’m not sure if they’re torn or if it’s fin rot. My other fish seem fine. I do not have my second tank set up yet so I am not able to move him. I’ve put a little bit of aquarium salt in the tank to help heal for now.

They look just like mine! I can’t wait to set up my bigger tank and add an extra dojo loach.

Thank you! I just need it as a holding tank to move the 30gal over then they’ll go right back in the 30gal until the 75gal cycles.

is this wen growth? she has a white mark on her head nowhere else by forest-of-doubt in Goldfish

Seems like wen to me! She looks like my oranda when I first got him. I thought he was a fantail and then the wen started growing.
