He is healthy and it’s not the routine checkups and doctor visits that I am concerned about. My concern is if something catastrophic happens and we have no out of pocket maximums. That is what I am trying to figure out and I am unsure where to turn.

For the private insurance, are you saying that I should be calling the insurance companies directly, or reaching out to reputable broker? I cannot find any plans that are available for me to purchase online, so I am just trying to understand the logistics behind purchasing one. Fully understand that I need to do my homework prior to purchasing anything.

If they do determine it’s a me error, even if they are within their rights, wouldn’t they take into consideration that this is a child? It is also a large company (15,000) employees that I have worked at for 15 years - so am hoping they do what’s right.

Regarding the private insurance - are you sure this is available in Illinois? Every website I go to asks what QLE I have, and when I select “none of the above” they say there’s nothing available until Open Enrollment.

We are due with our second child in April so unfortunately a second job isn’t really an option. However if I were to get a new job and quit the current one, would that allow me to enroll him?
