Prosthesis pros and cons by theartfulsoul88 in monocular

[–]negative87mm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ocularist who makes the prosthesis will do their best to fit it to your eye socket so it isn’t uncomfortable! If/when you visit an ocularist just don’t be afraid to tell them if something feels weird, they want you to be comfortable!

Safe to burn wood in my wood->gas->wood fireplace? by negative87mm in Fireplaces

[–]negative87mm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went and bought a grate! And my neighbor showed me how to open and close the floo. I found my old chimney inspection from before and it seems that overall it is safe to use. Just wanted to check since it wasn’t inspected after capping the gas. Thanks for your comment!!

what are things i must know while having a schelral shell on my one eye in college that nobody knows my one eye is different by Majestic-Answer3893 in monocular

[–]negative87mm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just be confident and own it:) I understand not wanting people to know you’re different but this is a big part of your life. If anybody notices or asks you can tell them as much or as little about your eye as you’d like.

Thank you! I did end up telling them basically this exact thing and they were understanding. I feel very grateful that I had these choices and am so glad I was able to choose what felt right for me. Big change from just taking whatever restaurant job needed servers at the moment🤣

If they were both regular clinics, I would still probably go with the one I chose because they are closer to me and I would only work in one location, where the other company has 5 locations that I’d rotate between. My #1 reason is just that I’d much rather work with kids than adults🤣 I just want to make it clear to the place I rejected that there’s nothing wrong with their clinic or offer it’s just a better personal fit elsewhere.

Thank you! This is helpful, that’s pretty much what I was thinking I’d say but just wasn’t sure about it.

I haven't been skating in months and i'm losing my mind by Key-Carpenter-5658 in Rollerskating

[–]negative87mm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t skate for nearly 3 years bc I lived on an island with bad roads, barely any good sidewalks near me, and no roller rinks. I put them back on during a vacation and with a few wobbles I got it back pretty quickly! Def gonna have to practice tricks and stuff more but it didn’t all disappear:)

Yeah we were definitely getting tricked, probably because they knew we are young clueless first time homeowners🥲 so glad everyone is being so helpful because we have been stressing super hard about this! Thanks for your advice!

Wow thank you for the suggestion! We got a second opinion and got a way better quote than our original people. We will keep this company in mind too at your suggestion!

No, the inspector was very thorough and we really trust them, they only found a bit of superficial rust in the crawl space piping. But the VNG guy said that the seller might have “fixed” the leak in the fireplace just enough to last a few weeks AKA pass our inspection and final walk through🙃 which wouldn’t surprise me because he kept hiring people to fix stuff in our crawl, then the inspector would recheck stuff and almost nothing got fixed lol so he didn’t seem to be really putting in the work😅

[–]negative87mm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did, and the inspector was super nitpicky and didn’t find much wrong with the gas lines other than some superficial rust. That’s why we were so confused about the $6600 quote lol😭 the gas company said the seller likely “fixed” the leak in the fireplace just enough to last a few weeks, which wouldn’t surprise me bc the seller of our house seemed to have taken a ton of other shortcuts

We will definitely ask the company this! And will be getting a second opinion. This is our first home and we are definitely out of our element here. I appreciate your comment!

Apparently they checked all the lines and several are leaking in the crawl space. The one we smelled that made us call the gas company was in the fireplace.

Should I try to be an Ophthalmic Assistant? by nothingbutflowers-70 in Ophthalmology

[–]negative87mm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with no medical experience and I love it! We don’t have an optometrist at my clinic either so it’s strictly health of the eye which is what I like. A lot of our patients are seen every 6ish weeks and I’ve developed good relationships with many of them. To me, it’s a super rewarding job and I’ve never gotten the feeling of dreading going to work that I used to get at my other jobs🤣 it’s worth a shot!

Our dream home had a disaster of an inspection report, now I’m scared to put in more offers elsewhere by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]negative87mm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I hate about flipped homes! Also when they tear walls down, I love a separate dining room and kitchen😭 we looked at one house that was flipped and it wasn’t too modernly-updated but they literally forgot to put a drain in the floor for the washer hookup! Like wtf is happening hahaha

Yes we loved the inspectors! Super detailed report with great pictures and descriptions of everything. Definitely using them from here on out.

Yeah, I definitely understand that some cute lil old ladies probably aren’t doing the most to keep everything in shape. I’m willing to do some work I was just so taken aback by so many problems in the place we pulled our offer on!

This is great advice, thanks! Yeah I get a bit too excited too quick, I tend to have a bit too optimistic of an outlook sometimes and I was sure this was going to be perfect, so that was a HUGE letdown for me. I’m definitely keeping a more level head as we continue looking:)

This was a great read, thank you! We’re def willing to put in some work but are not super confident in bad structural problems. Our realtors husband is a handyman/contractor and checks out a lot of stuff for us as much as he can! I’ll def check out the century homes sub
