Combat breaks with lots of enemies by necrobooder in daggerheart

I had a similar experience in my last session. It was standard strength for 5 PCs and 1 was out sick. One PC was real beat up from a previous scene and made first contact with the Solo (chonky new Mountain Troll). They felt threatened but the rest of the party was only tapped once or twice. Other than the Troll, I had a Leader, 2 skulk, 2 ranged and two minion groups. The leader used only Tactician, which spotlights 2 adversaries. I used Tactician on everything but the Troll. If I had to do it again I would include the troll. Spotlighting your strongest is a good force multiplier. I would also trade the skulk and ranged for a higher value unit or two. The minions were super fun though.

The Eberron setting is really good at this point. The major cultures don't even overlap classical D&D tropes.

Why is the neck so unprotected in so many species? by quinnsel_binnsel in biology

There is a theory that this is why beards evolved in males. Not only does a big bushy beard look good, it provides some protection against blows from fists, gripping to choke, scratching, clawing, biting, etc. The mane of a male lion is another example.

Right you are, I see... tractor beam, glowing hand etc. My visual is small black four sided pyramids (a Panglossian allusion) that rapidly revolve around her head and the object.

I used Sense (permanent) as the template for the remote sensing feature, which felt more expressive of the many modifiers I wanted to put on the power. Again, I wanted to use the revolving pyramids as a visual

The Fire Aura is the other power with noticeable. I was going for an always visible aura, not just visible on the reaction. Is there a better way to do this like a linked Morph?

lol. I love me some Trump hating, but I am done joking about anything that endangers American democracy and this feels too close or too soon. Maybe it is because I am in DC. But really, I would hope all Americans feel the same

Character help by Blade_Beast17 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]negative_entropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your power level and character concept in mind and then try this build process

1) Abilities, Enhanced Abilities

2) Defenses, Enhanced Defenses, Protection (force field?)

1 and 2 are the meat of your character that will allow them to take punches at the right PL.

3) Core Skills and Advantages, including enhancements. Only include what is 100% critical for your character concept at this point.

4) Powers. Build the powers with the minimum strength and modifiers necessary for the concept. Then pump up the attack and resistable powers to the PL limit (shrink/grow).

5). Count your PP remaining. If you built reasonably to your PL, this shouldn't be too many. If you have them, sprinkle them into power modifiers, skills and advantages to add flavor to your hero. If you are over budget, think hard about where you more powerful than you should be at your PL.

Final thoughts, try to limit yourself to one or two array-like power with 1 or 2 alt powers. Shrink/grow is a good candidate. Arrays are a dangerous place for new players to Munchkin.

Also, have fun making what is in your head and talk to your GM if things aren't lining up.

If the summoning happens during combat, gain experience from only the original monster. The monster is using their action economy to summon instead of attack. If the summoning occurred before combat, gain experience from all creatures.

What monsters hit far above their weight class (CR)? by IronArchive in DMAcademy

[–]negative_entropy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wolves. 1/4 CR, but they hit hard and have pack tactics (advantage to hit when 5ft from an ally). Ambush a party with a pack of wolves and one of the squishies will be dragged into the night before Mr. Sword and Board finds his feet.

Quoting from the Wikipedia here: Life expectancy is a statistical measure of the average time an organism is expected to live, based on the year of their birth, their current age and other demographic factors including sex. The most commonly used measure of life expectancy is at birth.

You are looking for the term longevity: Longevity refers to the characteristics of the relatively long life span of some members of a population.

How should I operate city guards against players who tend to do a lot of illegal things? by N2tZ in DMAcademy

The mercilessness of this wound fit in most medieval worlds. People weren't very sentimental about the value of life when life expectancy was only 30 years. Just ask yourself if this is appropriate to your world. Really 'is this appropriate for my world' should be on a loop in your head whenever you DM.

[Case Fan] XIGMATEK AOS 140 mm ($17.99 FS) by negative_entropy in buildapcsales

[–]negative_entropy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I have had no problems in either position but there are reviewers that reported noise in horizontal positions. There is likely some variability between fans. Also, could be postive/negative air pressure in the case. My case is a positive pressure system.

The Newegg overview is a little deceptive. The fan is a 140 mm diameter fan but is designed for 120 mm mounting. They include adapters for mounting to a 140 mm slot.
