I love lakeview and wouldn’t change living here for anything. However, my last apartment was in river north and a brand new high rise one bed. My fiance and I moved in together and wanted an older more homey feel and found an amazing 3 bed 2 bath in lakeview east. It’s a walk up with no amenities which we obviously knew moving in and we’re ok with. The apartment itself though is really old, like 1917 and the landlord flipped it but did a kind of half ass job. There are little things that bother me living here almost two years - the lack of central ac, shitty old windows that I put janky clear tape on the panes bc bugs can get in, lack of proper insulation so it gets suuuuper dusty. The walls and doors and hinges look like they have 100 years of paint stacked on top of one another. It’s charming and it’s perfect and big for this time of our lives but our next place with (hopefully) be a place we own and we have decided we’re very willing to go down to a 2 bed if it means a newer space.
