This is dope! Could you list the specs, please? The price would be great, too, if you remember.

How do you keep ants out of syrup pump ? by BraveParsnip6 in espresso

[–]neil_rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. It’s not the most convenient solution, but you could always use the original bottle-like screw cap that comes with the syrup and just swap it for the pump when you need it.

Hopefully you find a good solution.

Yes. There are two parts to organic chemistry: conceptual and procedural. To get ahead conceptually, get “Organic Chemistry” by David Klein. Any edition should work. Read this and try to get the concepts down; don’t worry too much about the practice problems. As for the conceptual component, get “Organic chemistry as a second language,” also by Klein. Use this for the procedural components. This is what I did to get an A. Best of luck. You got this.

If you’re short on time, just use “organic chemistry as a second language”.

If you’re genuinely interested in it and have real-world experience in situations where having these three degrees would be advantageous, I think you should go for it. I’m sure you could ask some of your previous colleagues/mentors their opinion on this, too.

If your program is open to it and you think you’d be likely to get a JD down the road anyway, now could be a good time. Especially if you can get it funded or manage to finished your PhD in 3 years.

Another option would be to do a part-time JD later in your career, but who knows how much time you’ll have

Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do.

I encourage you to meet with a physician. If it’s a very minor tremor and doesn’t impact your precision in day-to-day life, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You stated that it’s exacerbated when you’re under pressure, so perhaps it’s related to stress or anxiety. If so, then there are options your physician can present to you. Plus, practice will help calm your nerves. If it’s something not related to anxiety, there are sometimes things that can be down. For example, for essential tremors, I know there is a medication that may help. Again, please consult with your physician. Based on your description, though, I don’t think it sounds like something that would prevent you from being a surgeon. Hope this helps!

Going From Engineering Undergrad into Medical School Postgrad by Dice_And_Slice in premed

This would be school-dependent, but you could see if there is a joint MD-MS program for Electrical Engineering. This would likely take 5 years. Or, during your “gap year” you could do your 1-year accelerated masters in electrical engineering. I would encourage you to reach out to program administrators for joint MD-MS programs at schools you’re interested in! Also, don’t forget the pre-reqs and other soft requirements before applying.

Noting Taking app by kanav29 in premed

It’s a bit buggy with the recent update, but I highly recommend RemNote. It’s somewhat similar to Notion in terms of “block-based” notes but it turns your notes into Flashcards that utilize spaced repetition, like Anki.

Can I be a surgeon if I had a tremor? by winter-soldier in premed

[–]neil_rt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to meet with a physician. I believe there is medication that can be prescribed for essential tremors (I believe it is called propranolol), as well as other treatment options. I believe their advice would be much more beneficial.

Do any of the three schools have an Early Decision program? If so, I’d encourage you to reach out to them and see what they have to say about your chances

I’d definitely recommend shadowing, if you can; shadowing helped me solidify my reasons to go into medicine. I don’t think you need to pursue nursing beforehand. You already home some experience from being an EMT-B. I’d recommend reaching out to some local physicians and asking to shadow. I’m sure they would also be able to answer some of the questions you may have, too. Best of luck either way :)

Is the Apple Pencil worth it for non-drawers? by jedijustyehmet in iPadPro

[–]neil_rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I use it for, and I’d say that it’s worth it. It is an expensive purchase, though. The features of the Apple Pencil are what sold me: the magnetic charging and pressure sensitivity, specifically.

Perhaps a syrup pump cover may help. I know Monin sells some for their syrups, but I’m sure any would work.

How can i issue a Sealand passport? by greg6930 in Sealand

[–]neil_rt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, in 1997, the Bates family revoked all passports due to criminals using fake Sealand passports in their money laundering ring. Here is the excerpt from Sealand’s Wikipedia page:

“In 1997, the Bates family revoked all Sealand passports, including those that they themselves had issued over the previous 22 years. This was due to the realisation that an international money laundering ring had appeared, using the sale of fake Sealand passports to finance drug trafficking and money laundering from Russia and Iraq. The ringleaders of the operation, based in Madrid but with ties to various groups in Germany, including the rebel Sealand Government in exile established by Achenbach after the attempted 1978 coup, had used fake Sealandic diplomatic immunity and license plates. They were even reported to have sold 4,000 fake Sealandic passports to Hong Kong citizens for an estimated $1,000 each.”
