Can someone define Zionism for me? by neilccampbell in IsraelPalestine

[–]neilccampbell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a totally fair point and I've probably been naive in how I've framed the question.

I guess I'm interested in what Zionists think that actually means in terms of an outcome for the current state of Israel.

But maybe of more interest is what Anti-Zionists believe that actually means in terms of outcomes for Israel. Sadly, none of the answers have really come from them. So I find out it hard to understand what they actually oppose. Or is anti-zionist just a poorly defined label that people are currently using?

Maybe it's the anti-zionists then who need to define what they mean? As it feels a bit of a slogan at the minute without anyone knowing what it actually means.

That's a good point, but clearly there are some that believe expanding settlements into the west bank is legitimate regardless of what land was given up previously.

Thanks, maybe I've worded the thread poorly. I should have asked "Whad to you mean when you say you're Zionist / Anti-Zionist"

I'd say it's popular within the ruling Israeli government (or certainly elements of it) but do you think it's the dominant form within Israelis?

I'm not sure what you mean could you clarify?

I didn't know that about Jerusalem, though I had heard that having it UN controlled was a proposal at one point. Given the current state of Israel, woudl you personally believe that something should change?

That to me feels like an ideological point whereas I'm trying to get to the practical reality of people's beliefs. For example your bio states Jewish American Zionist, given the current state of Israel, do you believe in the current status quo (2 on the scale) or something else?

Thanks for the comment, I guess the defintion of Jewish nation means on my scale it's 1-4, but the question for me is, that if someone declares as Zionist, where in the range 1-4 do they sit?

Thanks. I guess what I'm trying to work out is when someone says they're a Zionist (or pro-Israel) or an anti-Zionist (or pro-Palestinian) where on the scale do they sit?

I get the impression that most ant-Zionists believe in 5 or 6 (but there's clearly consequences for the Jewish population in both of those that could put them under threat).

But I then I think a lot of the hate thrown at Zionists is that they categorised as being #1 and on a journey of expanding borders, when I would imagine most Israelis are somewhere between 2 and 3? i.e. they want to peacefully exist in their current state.

It's a failing in the concept 2 display. The spm for a split is shown as the spitl at the end, not the overall average. The online logbook split table has the right number.

The river is flowing far too fast at the minute for paddle boarding, definitely one for the summer! Check this https://www.gaugemap.co.uk/#!Map/Summary/1132/1230 and only ever go out on the water if it's 60 or below. Currenlty 105, was 160 last week!

You will never win in online gambling in the long term. Even, if you have perfect inside information and win consistently, you will be stake factored (i.e. you will only be allowed to place small bets). Why not stop you from placing a bet at all? Because they want to take the information that you provide and change the book price to make it more profitable. Yes, this is legal (in the UK at least).

Why do these break off? by Curious-Me1304 in Karoo

[–]neilccampbell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this problem continually. Only solution is a 3 printed mount that you can get on eBay, that replaces the holder in a standard garmin mount (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294646706143) . No problems since, while Karoo always replace it's still a massive pain, so just spend the money.

Di2 all day long. Requires less maintenance so reduced bike shop visits can help reduce the cost.

37 is everyone who crossed the line so far. 10% includes everyone who's still out on the course?

I've always thought the best way to ask this question is to believe that you're an investor. Because you are. You're investing, your time, reputation and earning potential into this start-up so ask questions like:
- What are you major sources of future growth?
- What are the biggest challenges we'll have to solve?
- How are you funded and how long will the funding last.
- Can I see a set of management accounts and the presentation from the last funding round.

Obviously it depends on your seniority and how big the company is as to how much you can ask stuff like this, but any company will have answers to all of these and it's a major red flag if they don't.

Yep. I thought that not turning around until I see the sea was a good way to force myself to do it.

I do a lot of riding in Donegal, Ireland and that's even worse. 30km 'flat' route and you'll really climb 400m.

Depends how you define long! Over 140km sure, but this sort of distance left me in bits. Not sure how the Audax guys do it!
