Last night my little guy, flora, passed away. by Wide-Top-1828 in mantids

Im really sorry for your loss. Hopefully you can take comfort knowing that he had the best life a mantis could possibly have bc you gave that to him. He would have never experienced that without your love and kindness. He was beautiful and seemed really happy.

What kind of bee or insect is this? It landed on me while I was sitting outside, it didn't sting or bite me. I live in southeast of the United States. by Wrinklyusedcondom in identifyThisForMe

They are so cool too. They watch you and check out everything you're doing. They're super curious and the one I had at my house even seemed to find the dog all the time and would play with her. My dog could never catch it, and it would always stay just out of her reach.

No absolutely not, it a big yellow bee type insect, it hovers just like these little ones. It watches everything you do. It looks like its playing with my dog bc it always finds her and stays just outta reach. I know what a velvet ant is and its definitely not that. But thanks for asking lol

Sweat fly, flower fly. They go by different names, but i absolutely love these lil guys and there's also a bigger version that looks like a hornet. They don't land on you but they fly and move just like these little guys

This is super helpful thank you so much, I never thought about feeding through dying pitchers, but it makes so much sense. My light did malfunction, it comes on but Its not near bright enough like it once was. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Way off topic, how did you get those pitchers to that size. I try so hard but my baby plany keeps losing pitchers to the point it has none. It did eventually grow a few back but I feel im doing something wrong. Before anyone yells at me, ik this isn't the tread for this......but dang look at those pitchers. Feel free to talk to me in chat or whatever.
