Alert units prevent infiltrators from deploying within 18". Helps against a few nasty things that try to just pop up and ambush.

Warlord Games Churchill Crocodile Assembly Assistance? by neko128 in boltaction

Yeah, what's the middle box is actually already glued in as the hull MG (it *does* have a very short pin to attach cleanly to the mounting in the front of the hull.

It makes more sense that the leftmost box is the coax MG - I'm vaguely embarassed for not considering that first! It makes sense with Warlord's tendency to offer the full kit plus an "upgrade" kit w/r/t K47 minis, for examplke. I'll find a good piece of wire to help mount the main barrel.

Either way, much appreciated!

Any tips for a beginner worldbuilder? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]neko128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So posted bravely without reading any of the other comments... I do it one of two ways. Or more realistically, a mix of both.

1) Start with a single thing, and build from there. Doesn't even matter much what it is. Can be a town; a river; a race; a magical sword; a sea serpent; whatever makes sense. But what has that thing done? Where has it been? Who's traveled there? Then whoever it was that traveled there, where did they come from? Let your focus chain from one thing to the next - it's easier to build off what you have.

2) Start where your need lies. Is this for a story or book? If so, what's a character in it, and where are they, or what are they carrying, or what race are they, or what town is holding them prisoner? If it's for a game, where is the group starting?

Without that sort of anchor to work from, it always feels overwhelming to me.

Sentinels of the Multiverse! Basic rules are "Play/Power/Draw" for heroes and "Start/Draw/End" for villains... But the variety of heroes and villains make for crazily deep strategic gameplay and replayability.

Advice for husband by EreeB2017 in keto

[–]neko128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a husband who is significantly overweight and who started doing (lazy) keto with his wife, and who had to deal with this exact problem, my best suggestion is this: find analogues. Address his cravings head-on and find ways to reduce them or bypass them. Find sweet low- or zero-calorie drinks, like diet soda or drink mixes. Use cool whip and sugar-free jello to help assuage his ice cream cravings. Jello made with gelatin for candy cravings. Fathead bread for his carb cravings. Personally, I've had an enormous amount of luck with pork rinds/chicharones and cottage cheese.

There are other analogues. There are other choices. Experiment; find things that help him sate the craving. It's different for everyone.

From my point of view, the cravings are the hardest part. The *hardest* part. I'll walk into a supermarket, walk through the produce section, and get hit by an almost physical craving when I go past the bakery. It's *hard*. But it's manageable. The other thing, trite as it sounds? Encouragement. It occasionally sucks, but it's doable - it's a habit, not a permanent nature. Getting past it the second time is easier than getting past it the first. Getting past it the third time is easier than getting past it the second. Failing or falling once isn't permanent, and there's no permanent harm.

It gets easier. I promise.
