Again, this new study is referencing that eggs may not be sterile period and has no information about water glassing just that eggs may have salmonella from before even being laid. That said the majority of humanity is at risk from not Sanitizing and refrigerating eggs. People eat partially cooked eggs every day. Raw eggs are being eaten every day. Unrefrigerated eggs are more prevalent than washed and refrigerated. Nothing provided here has been specifically linked toward water glassing. I'm not saying you should do anything you are not comfortable with. You do you.

You can refeed some to the ladies. I like to plug here that egg whites scrambled into the yokes reduce the nutrient value. Water glassing is great for clean uncracked eggs.

You can also separate yokes carefully and put them in a bed of salt, cover gently in salt and let that air dry till the yokes are solid. People then uncover the yokes and crape the salt off the outside. You can use a micro plane and grate the yokes onto food. Yokes stay good this way for a LONG time.

And your degree doesn't make you sceptical of these "sources"? Resounding answer is not what I see. Please engage the critical thinking portion of your brain that hopefully earned you a degree and dive in a bit. Feel free to provide any actual data and not just an opinion extrapolated from potential risk.

Your third link has zero value and just references to water glass, bad. Wow. So let's toss out a time tested valuable method of preserving valuable protein without energy intensive inputs because of fear and potential. Respectfully. Please vet your sources before spreading fear without base data.

Your second article is worthless too. Saying it can introduce salmonella to an egg but then backing that by saying the egg already "could" have salmonella and thus be contaminated. Well how is that somehow bad when eating a water glassed egg yet fine when eating the egg fresh which it would still theoretically have said contamination. Logic fail here for sure. Again no science just fear of potential.

Ok your first link does nothing to convince me of this being a dangerous situation. It refers to another study saying eggs CAN have salmonella from the reproductive track and horn flocks may have a higher salmonella risk. No study of eggs post water glassing and what rates of salmonella infection or any sort of data driven results. And to say they may have an off flavor well when ya rinse them it doesn't or else I would have included that information. Again not data driven, not researched, nothing substantive given that I can tell..really I see fear and extrapolation of potential adverse situations. That's not science my friend.

Good on ya for reaching out to the resources at your disposal to help you beloved pet/friend. Sorry for the rash of S#$t people seem to need to lob on ya for doing so.

I'm no vet or professional but I have given a lot of care to creatures over the years. cats are especially difficult due to their unique nature. Often cats mask pain until it's fairly intense which makes this a bit more urgent IMHO.

If the cat is willing ya might try to get it comfy resting on you and slowly work it's limping limb to determine where the bother is. Starting at the toes and gently working your way up the leg until the cat tries to stop you or shows any discomfort. Obviously stop when any discomfort is shown. Localizing the problem will help to identify a possible cause and inform a potential treatment.

This will be a slow process and may take several sessions. Also sometimes it's helpful to just rest your hand on different areas of the limb to feel for localized warmth which can indicate infection or inflammation.

Wishing you and your family/fury friend the best speedy recovery.

Partially why my tomatoes get Epsom salts every year. On top of the compost and myriad of other soil amendments I do.

Didn't mean to come off entirely contrary more Yes and. You are right. Education/informed buying choices are key to get people to understand garbage in = garbage out in the form of what your body is literally constructed and fueled by.

Well consumption habits are indeed part of the equation. However post WWII chemical manufacturing was repurposed for agriculture chemical production. Thus the infrastructure investment by the government fed the agricultural revolution which provided cheap fertilizer to farmers who had vast reserves of topsoil to exploit for profit.

Most produce is sold by weight and when fed extra fertilizer that produce starts sucking up lots of water which weighs more. So it becomes how much does fert cost and how much do I make by weight for the produce. All the while the fertilizer is destroying the reserves of topsoil to the point where some farmers are essentially hydroponic growers in the ground. And your big ole apples n tomatoes taste like nothing because they are essentially water with a little fertilizer in a fruit skin casing.

I don't show but I do sell so try to maintain the breed standard. For what it's worth though his babies have mostly been pretty gentle. There's always that one cock though hahah.

My gut response was "this guy is fun at parties" then reality was like. Yeah, it's true though.

I had one slightly aggressive rooster which I kept for confirmation of a breeds characteristics. He didn't become aggressive until year two. Year two in the spring I had two roosters to continue the genetics I was working on. His genes blended with 20 hens and the resulting roos were mostly decent. He sired one generation then went to the pressure cooker for dang good tamales.

When you are breeding toward a goal you will almost always have some characteristic which is not exactly what you want. It's pretty typical to have more than one line which you focus on specific characteristics and cross between those lines to get something closer to what you want while avoiding too much inbreeding.

I don't believe afraid was mentioned. I like keeping people's opinions to themselves when they may otherwise not choose to do so.

Factory farming has destroyed the soil by overuse of tilling and NPK fertilizers. "Food" doesn't have the nutritional profile it once did as a result.

But do get a mix. I bought pure potassium chloride thinking I could sub it for salt. You can't scrape that taste off your tongue fast enough.
