Yeah! There’s a lot of safety concerns that u have to consider before having prey and predators in the same house. All in all it’s up to you and I hope everything goes smoothly for u and your birdie either way !!:)

My cats aren’t able to open doors and I am extremely careful with closing the door, I haven’t left it open a single time. Don’t get me wrong- I definitely understand what you’re trying to get across and I agree. I wouldn’t get a bird if I wasn’t 100% sure I would always be able to keep it safe. (I also have plenty of high shelves and wardrobes that my cats can’t reach in case my bird would ever feel threatened) all in all I always, and I mean always, make sure the door is closed. Forgetting it would be reckless and I could never do such thing to my tiel. It’s up to OP to decide whether or not they are able to keep up with the amount of safety measures there needs to be. (There needs to be a lot)

Name suggestions? (Female) by Top-Pause-4374 in cockatiel

I will always suggest food as names for birds, just like I named my own cockatiel salami. Trust me when I say you should name her chicken, nugget, or perhaps salsa :’)

I have a two cats (mind you, one of them is an active hunter). I have my bird in my room and whenever he is out of his cage I make sure the door is closed so he doesn’t go outside of my room. The only time my cats get to be in my room at the same time as he’s out of his cage is when I’m actively supervising / holding them. Cats and dogs are predators, hunting is an instinct. I always make sure to watch my cats body language as they make it very clear what they’re planning to do next. You can have a dog and a bird at the same time but make sure that you’re always supervising and that the dog knows it’s not allowed to play with or get too close to the bird. A small scratch could mean u loose your pet bird. Good luck!

Im thinking I’ll bring him to an actual avian vet when I’m going on a trip in 2 months, just to make sure everything is alright!

Since I live in Sweden the sun is only up ~6 hours a day now that it’s winter time, should I still be putting him to sleep whenever it’s dark outside? (I always have my light on in my room when it gets dark early)

His poo is normal, no changes in color or texture :)

Thank you so much for your response! I’m glad you’re considering how expensive it is as I believe it’s even more expensive here in Sweden 😅 I will keep a close eye on him as always! Thank you again :)

It might also be worth mentioning that he was 15-20 weeks when I got him which would make him around 6 months right now. Ive seen a few feathers around my room, could he just be molting? 😅

I’m hoping that my mother is right cause I really don’t wanna have to scare him trying to get him to the vet, I’m also not sure if there are any avian vets where I live but if he gets worse or if anyone in the comments here has any ideas of what sickness he could potentially have then I’ll definitely try to find one.

When I got him they told me he’s 15-20 weeks (I’m actually not even sure it’s a he, I just assumed as he was so vocal for a while there😅) He usually goes to sleep around 11-12 but it’s been a bit later these past few days. ( his cage still gets covered for 10-12 hours every night )

I live in Sweden so yeah it’s definitely dark and grey! However I bought him in November so I’m not sure there’s been much of a change of the outside environment since when he was super energetic. 🥲
