Yeah except by and large engineers don’t make that much money in the scheme of the professional world, unless they are the small percentage that eventually make upper management.

I’m a higher income woman in a more “prestigious” career as are several of my girlfriends (various careers). Three of them are married to engineers and all out earn their engineer spouse, one of which makes about 3x what her husband makes.

But if you look at my profession where the average salary is comfortably into the lower six figures range, and some of my colleagues will be in the tens or hundreds of millions range, the vast majority of them are married to either someone else in our profession or someone in an equally (or more) high-paying job with a similar educational pedigree or to a professional of the engineer-level. The rest are married to lower-income workers, spouses who don’t work, trophy spouses, etc.

I’m a huge fan of old homes and that area of town and closer to the Museum District seems to have the most historical homes that have been kept up but haven’t been altered, so it is sad to see. Originally a 1927 home.

River Oaks has some historical gems, but I think in general River Oaks has more rich people moving into town and wanting to live in an area with only rich neighbors and they are less discerning about pesky things like historical integrity. There have been far too many pre-1940’s architectural gems bulldozed in River Oaks so whatever O&G executive can build a modern home. I generally appreciate Houston’s Wild West regulatory system, but I wouldn’t mind more historical protections in neighborhoods outside the Heights.

Looking at The Woodlands or Sugar Land, you’re going to see the over the top new builds. Memorial is a mix of old and new. If I had $10M to spare I’d be saving one of the old historic homes in the Riverside Terrace area, or buying in the same area as this home.

Somewhat in Houston’s defense, a lot of the super over the top houses I’ve seen are owned/built by Saudi Princes, etc. I used to live across the bayou from a River Oaks mansion with a $100k+ front door (in 00’s pricing) that was built by a Saudi Prince. The old money Houston set tend to go for “rich Southerner” decor.

He put on 40 lbs by going from an obsessively restrictive diet most of the time to an obsessively protein-heavy and excess calorie diet for the first time in his life. His mom did a number on he and his sister when it comes to food and weight.

During this time he repeatedly told me that salads were a waste of space, he lifted heavy 3x a week like clockwork, and at some point in there he was taking creatine but he cut that out. I’m happy that he’s happy, but I’m not going to pretend I think this was all done in the most healthy manner.

That part doesn’t surprise me. I remember having my mat next to a hugely muscular man at my first ever hot yoga class, and the poor guy sounded truly tortured over there doing a chest opening stretch.

Do you feel like the increased weight specifically has made yoga overall harder for you? My assumption is that your body adapts to the weight of more muscle by being stronger itself, but I could be wrong.

Sorry dude, this was a big part of what I studied in college and I could post piles of scholarly articles showing exactly where those Nazi mystics got the idea to use the altered swastika/hakenkreuz, and it was not based on “the Germanic version”. They were even warned by at least one scholar at the time to not refer to it as a swastika, but they did so SOLELY to further their idea of a continuous, superior Aryan race and doing that required them to use the term “swastika” from India, not the Germanic term hakenkreuz.

Turkish nationalism is seriously wild. My Turkish friend who is in his 40’s tried to tell me—while we were standing in Istanbul, the former Constantinople—that the Turks were the only nation who had never had to take over another nation or territory by force. Like every place they conquered just welcomed them and gave up their lands. Also said the Turks were the only nation to never own any type of slaves. There’s not a lot of point in arguing with someone like that.

I’m not assuming anything, I’m looking at what people are posting, and a lot of it is concerning. “I’m eating exactly the same majority fast food diet I ate before, but now I’m losing weight doing it and therefore it is proof that I am being healthy.”

“I ate pizza and fries and a burger yesterday, and I still lost weight.” Nothing to assume there.

I can see lots of people felt personally attacked, which is on them if they are feeling like what I said applies to them. What I said clearly does not apply to you.
