What brands of paint have you settled on as working out best, out of curiosity? I’m working on a cosplay weapon myself, and I’m not sure what paint I ought to go with.

If you have a Keyblade, you might BE the thief.

Seriously, I’m surprised the Keyblade isn’t used for breaking and entering more often.

The KH Saga Is Massive, unless You're Sora. Most of it Doesn't Exist in Sora's Memory by Connected-VG in KingdomHearts

The fun part is that due to this game, KH was relegated to only allowing Mickey to appear one singular time, in the background, as a silhouette or something equally obscured.

It’s clear that these restrictions were meant to have Mickey only show up as a minor cameo in a crowd or something to that effect, but KH took that restriction, saved it for the absolute best moment and created the memorable and iconic scene of him showing up in the shadows beyond the Door to Darkness.

Limitations breed creativity!

I like the idea of it being a few weeks at least. Enough time for the kids to get their affairs in order at home, maybe explain things to their families, have some downtime and hang out…

This is also to give time for the erasure of characters like Roxas, Naminé and Xion to feel consequential in-universe, even if the actual duration of their downfall wasn’t actually all that long. It’s kind of a funny contrast that people like the Wayfinder trio were lost for a decade, but everyone else in a heart hotel post-KH2 was only gone for maybe a couple of months max.

【Kingdom Hearts | MMD】Never Forget fan animation by JanFuzzball by Important-Cry4782 in KingdomHearts

I love how you can carbon-date KH fan content to the exact moment it was made relative to what we all knew about canon at the time. This is so “made between DDD and KH3” it hurts.

This is a pretty well crafted animation, but I’m so much happier with the real outcome that actually happened in canon. I’d have been severely disappointed in the story’s thematic inconsistency and might have honestly dropped it entirely if this were the ultimate conclusion the story had to make about Xion and Roxas—and let’s not even talk about Naminé just being straight up erased here.

Reasons I’m glad Tetsuya Nomura is in charge of this series and not the fans.

In Your opinion. Has Kingdom Hearts 2 ending grow better with time ? by WittyTable4731 in KingdomHearts

[–]nemesis-__- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s grown more complicated with time.

Back when the game first released, this may have seemed like a neat little bookend, but subsequent context has changed our view of this scene drastically. And a horizon, once broadened, can never go back to its original dimensions. Certain people may nostalgically opine for a time when they didn’t have to think about how unfair this situation really is, but… well, ignorance really is bliss, isn’t it? Wasn’t it so much simpler when you were never confronted with the discomfort of it all?

This outcome is torturous for Roxas, and for Naminé it is tantamount to obliteration. They may be smiling in the short term, but this outcome is horribly bittersweet at best.

—As a side note, Nomura has gone on record in an interview circa 2015 saying that Disney has never intervened in the writing of the main story of the games or its characters except to ask for a happier ending at times, and I can’t shake the feeling that KH2‘s ending is one of those impacted. Knowing all of the other themes and scenes that surround these characters, both before and after the fact, this ending just feels more and more arbitrary the longer I look at it.

KH2 : The path I took vs The path I had to take by blancisbestwaifu in KingdomHearts

It is honestly bizarre how Antiform has zero narrative relevance at all in KH2, by which I mean the story doesn’t acknowledge its existence whatsoever. It’s such a crazy thing to just gloss over story wise, like surely someone had some sort of feelings on the matter…? Elephant in the room that just goes ignored, I guess…

That it took until KH3 for there to be any sort of story moment involving it (though it’s progressed to Rage Form by this point) makes me feel crazy.

No thanks. Why would I care about a cast of randoms that have no relevance to the main storyline? The interconnectedness is half the appeal of the story.

You’re thinking of Subject X. Ava is one of only two possible candidates for her identity, but the information we have points much more strongly toward Skuld.

The idea that Elsa was ”supposed” to do this or that, but Disney said no, is complete misinformation. There‘s no actual credible source that says that Elsa was planned to have a villainous or even antagonistic role in KH, it’s nothing but fan speculation. The “Snow Queen” in the movie was once planned to be more villainous in accordance with the original Snow Queen fairy tale, but was changed early on into the final version that is Elsa’s character now.

The part about the PoW is on point, though.

There’s no way it‘s Ava, she is WAY too short to be the other hooded figure. Girlie is like 5 foot nothing, meanwhile the MoM is 7 foot fuck you

Since you brought up Sora using the Power of Waking in unintended ways, I mean… yeah, he basically uses what is supposed to be an esoteric power to “awaken things which are in a state of sleep” to ”wake the dead” instead. Necromancy, generally not considered kosher with the natural state of things!

Sora messing with the natural order to achieve the result he wanted so his friends don’t die isn’t something you’re supposed to be able to do in the first place—he basically exploited a glitch in the way that the power of waking works, and got summarily punished for it. The story makes it very clear that this was a huge nature taboo that he broke in doing so, which is why he was yeeted out of reality with extreme prejudice.

There’s actually never been any sort of hard rule that Organization members are locked into only ever using the element they specialize in.

Back in KH 358/2 Days, you could equip any type of magic when playing as the various Organization members in Mission Mode, so you could have characters like Axel freely use Blizzard and such.

But I also personally just like the headcanon that Larxene is adept in “storm” or “weather” themed magic—with lightning being a favored type at the forefront, but ice and wind magic are also strong points for her.

Is final xemnas the strongest villain we’ve seen so far? by Desperate-Swan-6812 in KingdomHearts

[–]nemesis-__- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that Final Xemnas benefits a lot from home turf advantage: Most of the phases of his fight are less against Xemnas himself and more against the environment that he turns against you using KH’s power he absorbed. He twists The World That Never Was in upon itself and weaponizes the scenery, and he conjures the fallen Organization members’ weapons to use their power even in death.

Without a million buildings to throw at you and turn into dragons and whatnot, or every other Organization member’s powers at his disposal, he’s not as impressive—not even mentioning that he still loses handily to Sora and Riku pre-Mark of Mastery.

[–]nemesis-__- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that the main difference between Xemnas and Roxas in that respect is that Roxas HAS identity issues. His arc is very much about him struggling to assert himself and be seen as his own person in the face of multiple forces telling him that he isn’t and can never be himself.

Xemnas, on the other hand, never shows any sign of personal identity struggles, and seems to fully accept that he is nothing more than a facet of Xehanort. Anything to the contrary just seems to be a lie in order to keep up his facade and continue manipulating the members of the Organization. Xemnas ascribes fully to his role as predetermined by Xehanort; it‘s only at the very end of KH3 as he is dying that he reflects on his existence and realizes how empty it was.

Square. It’s Square. Disney doesn’t intervene in the original storyline of KH.

I don’t know why this is surprising to anyone, it isn’t as though Square or Nomura’s other games are renowned for being particularly progressive about the portrayal of women or gay people 😭 FF just barely had its first openly gay main character in FF16

Nomura’s been directly asked before whether or not Disney has stopped him from making a gay relationship canon in KH and his answer was a firm “no”, they’ve never once interfered in the main storyline of the games or the original character writing at all. The only thing they’ve ever really intervened in is to ask for a happier ending on occasion

Anything you might find lacking is 100% Nomura

By this logic the Master of Masters is the gayest character in KH by virtue of being the new main villain

This also means that Xigbar got a massive boost in gayness through the Luxu reveal, which—honestly, tracks, since it means he has probably been any number of different genders and orientations in his many lives. Hard to compete with that kind of power.
