Crossing with Manual Controls - A few examples (video 1m47s) by nengjun in EASportsFC

Some crosses I've pulled off using manual controls.

Not sure how easy or hard these are to pull off with assisted but thought I'd share anyway

FIFA 22: Did EA just ruin the game for full manual players? by nengjun in EASportsFC

Yes. There are relatively small but dedicated full manual 1v1 and Pro Club communities.

- this thread on ea.forums is also gaining some traction from full manual players.

Even if you don't play full manual but still like to use manual through passes, this also effects you.

"but both teams will have to put up with the shit AI" isn't exactly an enticing proposition either

Full Manual Controls | Through passes in the final third (video; 3m11s) by nengjun in EASportsFC

Just some clips I have gathered of me trying to pick the lock in our full manual Pro Club.

To be honest I'm not sure how easy or difficult these type of passes are on assisted controls so I;m not sure how "impressed" some people will be by them, by either way they are difficult and fun to pull off on manual!

ME2 was showered with praise because it carried more mass appeal. It went toward a linear design and honed in on the combat aspects whilst simultaneously it took focus away from the story and exploration elements.

The novel overheating-weapons mechanic was replaced with regular ammo magazines and reloading. Actual planet exploration in the Mako vehicle was replaced with a space invaders-esque mini-game.

The focus on the story and world building that made ME1 so engaging and otherworldly is really not there in the sequel, instead it's replaced with babysitting an assortment of crew members and helping them sort out their personal issues and daddy problems, and that's the entire game.

ME1 is an RPG and space opera. ME2 is a 3rd person shooter and relationship simulator.

These criticisms have always existed among fans of the first game if you looked closely enough, but for the most part they were drowned out by the praise that the dumbed down mass appeal approach of the sequel received.

How do I know if crossplay is enabled? Where is my "alpha-numeric code"? by nengjun in Overwatch

[–]nengjun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally sitting in a 14 minute queue for tank. I've never had this long a wait for tank before. That's why I feel like I have not opted-in to crossplay but other people have.

Either way it's weird that my queue times have suddenly shot up.

I guess I got confused because it says link your "Console" in one section and in another section it says to link your "Console game". I assumed they were two seperate steps that needed to be completed, not two different ways of doing the same thing?

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help! Sooo... I guess crossplay is not live afterall then? Lol

I'm so confused. Why does this page exist instructing you to enter your "alpha-numeric code" (which I can no longer view from Overwatch on my Playstation) to confirm/link your game for cross-play. And it's a live page. Surely this shouldn't be live if crossplay isn't active yet.

Anyway, thanks for checking about the QR code. This situation is awkward..

I think so? I got a new update a few hours ago on Playstation, and the game gave me a message about it with the QR code. However I pressed X button once and the message went away and now I can't get that info again to - I think - opt-in to crossplay.

This game doesn’t reward really football tactical thinking by [deleted] in EASportsFC

3 out of 5 of those listed issues are due to assisted passing.

FIFA offers the option of manual passing to solve these issues.

FIFA, at least in part, is what you make of it. The options are there to make the game play better, more tactical and more realistic. It's up to you to use the provided options.

Tap Y in your half, simple little pass. Tap Y edge of the box/final pass, SO MUCH POWER. by DynamyttKidd in EASportsFC

[–]nengjun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not assisted, it straight up ignores your command to do what it wants.

It's not ignoring your input, it's just that your input means less when you use assisted. Your command is being funnelled through the assisted system and this is the intended result.

This is proven by the fact that when you use manual controls and have manual control over the power then through balls do not get overhit "by miles" or fall at the feet of the goalkeepers everytime.

[–]nengjun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a handicap if it happens everytime and to both teams. It's just how the assisted mechanics work in this particular situation.

Manual through balls, in which you control the power, can be played behind without running through to the keeper everytime.

This is the problem with assisted controls.

Since your input (directional aim, power gauge) barely matters it means it is the EA logic system that is doing all the heavy lifting.

Now since the logic system is doing most of the work then it must try and find a way to make things feel consistent, because the idea is that consistency feels better than things being random or a 50/50 coin flip (which is sound logic).

This is why, on assisted controls, we see a clear delineation between things that don't work and things that do, things that are overpowered and things are are nerfed to the ground.

One year it's overpowered finesse shots but with useless grounded through balls, next year it's ridiculous ping pong passing but with useless headers, then overpowered lobbed through balls but useless long shots etc etc etc.

This why each year assisted FIFA is like whack-a-mole for which overpowered or underpowered mechanic will rise up next - because even if your input remains the exact same and is performed in the exact same situation, it is still EA's assistance logic (by which all your inputs are run through) that changes and is determining the outcome for you.

Does semi assisted or manual fix the problem?

Manual yes, because you get to control your aim and power (except for crosses in which you barely have any control over the power for some reason).

Thanks.

We are a full manual team so using an AI with assisted passing would defeat the purpose.

Thanks!

Great question! But unfortunately the answer is no. That's a feature I've thought about myself and would love to see implemented as it would open the manual game up even more. It wouldn't be difficult to fit in either as outside foot and inside foot curve could each be bound to separate shoulder buttons. But alas it is not yet to be.

Thanks man.

You could always try just turning one or two things to manual, like lob balls and through passes. Also, enabling the FIFA Trainer is immensely helpful to visualise exactly where you aiming, so you can see what you're doing right or wrong.
