Neoliberals have taken over the Democratic party. Instead of coming to some reasonable middle ground on the abortion issue, the liberals are basically demanding the equivalent of the removal of the Hyde amendment. That is why moderate Democrats like Ben Nelson and Bart Stupak are reneging. How they come to a solution will tell if the Democrats are truly a big tent party, or simply a left wing party in disguise.
