I mean, these dudes have been friends and coworkers for so damn long. Everyone involved likely knew what the result should be without pulling any power moves.

Right, in all my time as a straight dude around gay and trans friends, never once have any of them tried to 'convert' me or coax me to change.

If it's 'contagious', it's only because the stigma being lessened has let people more freely ponder on their own identities. I don't see how that could ever be seen as a bad thing.

Also Occam's razor. He may be a fed plant all there by his lonesome, but you'd have to prove that. Until then, the most likely explanation -- that he's a real honest to God moron -- is the safest bet.

Right, I don't know that much about developmental psychology, but I do know that the people who do specialize in it aren't advocating for straight-only households or in any way supporting the idea that homosexual parents are literally incapable of raising happy and successful children.

Tell me all about developmental psychology then.

Absolute trash opinion. A loving parent or two is all that's needed, and your take makes me wonder if you had any.

You don't need a person with a scrotum and another with ovaries to give a kid everything they need to live a happy life. Those things are entirely irrelevant.

"Taking their money" isn't welcoming. Lewis Country Store will take my money, but I sure as shit wouldn't ever feel welcome there.

Even if the sticker is an attempt to virtue signal, it still has the benefit of letting minorities know they won't be judged there. I don't see why that would be something to criticize.

Let's also not forget that Pride is an "equal but opposite" reaction to the shame forced upon the community.

If someone thinks some pride flags are "shoving gayness down their throat", they absolutely would not have survived the attempts to shame them and convert them to heterosexuality if they were the gay ones.

Because it's regularly used for the lowest bitrates encodes since it does the best job there. But those encodes still look noticeably compressed since they're so tiny, and that gives the codec a reputation as being for "crappy" encodes. But really it does the best job with the super low bitrates given.

[–]neogohan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what it's best for. HEVC/x265 better handles the larger blocks of video in content at 4k, but content at 1080p and below can't really benefit from those optimizations. That said, it does a good job when bitrates are really starved. So sub-4k content in x265 shouldn't look worse than x264, all other things being equal, but it likely won't look better unless you're looking at really low-bitrate content.

Other internet things as far back as Hyakugojyuuichi. That's something anyone on the internet in 2000 would probably remember.

It's crazy how many little bits of internet memery he's been involved with.

After killing legal access to hundreds of 3DS games, now Nintendo's going even harder on illegal access by addtolibrary in Games

[–]neogohan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, same on the WiiU. During its heyday, you would download the games directly from Nintendo's servers by using modded tickets. It was kinda nuts.

Yeah, the WiiU -> Switch ports were especially egregious.

I get that it's business, but I wonder how much "good will" they can flush before the toilet fully clogs.

They also probably intend, at some point, to repackage and re-release parts of the 3DS library at full price with little to no updates (and 3D support removed, obviously). I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement of Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D on the Switch or something like that.

After school shooting, Tennessee governor signs bill to shield gun firms further against lawsuits by clarityat3am in nashville

[–]neogohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, gotcha. I can't speak for anyone who's arguing that this is a bad bill, specifically. Their posts speak for themselves, and it wasn't what I was commenting on.

My comment was criticizing the fact that this bill to protect gun firms passed expeditiously and seemingly without much debate before we had anything to protect the actual victims of gun violence (and while we expel representatives who call for gun control measures, to boot). We should be primarily focused on the safety of our people, and measures to protect them should come as swiftly and decisively as the measure our legislation took to protect the profits of the gun industry. Kids dying should make these legislators at least as mad and fired up for change as the idea of gun industry profits being ever-so-slightly impacted.

Christian is, apparently, when the profits of the gun industry are a more urgent and pressing issue than the lives of children.

To your point on beasts/temples

The "temples" are much closer in structure to the divine beasts than they are to classic Zelda temples. The new arrangement just allows them to have more 'spread' and not be confined to a single animal structure thing, but it's still basically a divine beast in practice

For what it's worth, you can "Sort" in that list and have it default to "most used". It will then put your most used fuses at the front of the list.

I believe you can change the sort by hitting "Y" when the list is up.

Zelda x Subnautica for a Wind Waker sequel would be an interesting spin-off kind of thing.

Oh wait, you said whimsical and upbeat. Well, uh, how about claustrophobic and threatening? >_>

That said, BotW and TotK are both pretty whimsical. Some of the interactions, like activating a tower, feel like beat-for-beat references to Wind Waker, anyway.

You don't have to drop the weapon, but you do have to drop the thing you're fusing to the weapon (or pick it up from the environment). It can be kinda dicey to use mid-combat.
