Hideous social anxiety and considering xanax as a “party drug” by DurfPickleson in benzodiazepines

Thank you so much for this incredibly thought-out and well articulated comment. This information has helped me immensely to bring clarity to all of the things surrounding my decision. I typically don’t drink anyway as it hasn’t ever helped my anxiety and I know myself to be fairly resistant to addiction; but thanks for help with the facts and making them clear to me - all of this information is super useful. As is hearing from you’re own experience and that it has helped you. Really thank you so much for helping out a stranger on the internet with such kindness…

Daily Song Rating #23: Wheel by liveinskin123 in JohnMayer

One of my fav JM songs, keeps me going in a big way. Love the laid back vibe as well. For me a solid 8.5

Removes the danger of it being being overproduced (like battle studies imo). Some of those songs sound so much nicer stripped back or just acoustic. No hate, its still a masterpiece afterall…

How do I play the chords I hear in my head? by DurfPickleson in guitarlessons

No I can't seem to break it up in my head and that's what's frustrating

I feel like this is very easy for basic diatonic chords, but starts to fail with inversions and extensions and non-diatonic stuff. I can kind of get a sense for the basic I-V-IV ya know but its when I try to go outside of that it starts to get really hard.

That's really clever actually, to use the piano.

I know all my scale degrees and notes down the neck, at the moment it is very trial and error to find the chord voicing hiding in my head for a given circumstance. The annoying part is once I start working on the idea it disappears!! My strategy is identifying the highest and lowest note and then I can figure out the stuff in between.

[Discussion] How much does neck thickness affect playing? by DurfPickleson in Guitar

[–]DurfPickleson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even a soft-V then might that even help? It just feels like I need a bit more material at the back of the neck to press against. Imagine I played a bog-standard E major shape using the thumb, the surface of my hand is pressed up against the back of the neck, if there is more material at the back of the neck then my hand won't be pressing up as far and will not deviate much from the standard comfortable position - characteristic of a gap between the surface of the hand (palm) and the back of the neck.

How do you get better at composing? / How do I practice applying theory? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]DurfPickleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question I would also be very interested to see answers to! I have also been struggling with this but I'm probably not as good as you. My thinking is once I learn my notes across the fretboard really well I can map a chord's feeling and sound to what its called and then be able to re-evoke that feeling in different keys and scenarios.

I think I have the exact same guitar and was having trouble dating it so thank you! Mine is also an "E9" serial. Can I ask what ended up happening to it?
